Any chance we trade 8 to Seattle for Ray Allen?

What's the percentage chance we re-sign Wallace? How can Jordan's cronies argue against it? Shouldn't we back up the bank truck?

Do the Bobcats realize that Nick Young is a great shooter, but does little else? Didn't they learn their lesson with Adam Morrison last season?

hi rick, im noticing a lot of mock drafts are pairing our 8 pick with brendan wright. ill admit i was in the northeast this past year and rarely saw the freshman in action. it seems these project picks (think marvin williams) are very hit or miss and i would personally prefer if we took brewer, noah or Jeff Green.

why should i prefer brandan wright over these players? assuming any or a combo of them are still there.

Rick, what are the chances the Bobcats make the eighth pick for themselves versus making a pick for somebody else or trading the eighth pick before it is made for a veteran player?
Also, who do they seem to like with that 22nd selection, and will they keep the 22nd pick?

Rick, do you have any idea the Cats reasoning for turning down the NJ trade with Sean May, when they have been frustrated with his lack of dedication and effort?

I hope the Bobcats do pursue Allen, if the Sonics really are blowing it up, but there's no way you get him for just the No. 8 pick.
As far as Gerald, the Bobcats better make a competitive offer for him, or they blow all credibility with the public. I think they realize that.

If the Monta Ellis+18 is on the table for the no. 8, is there any reason the Bobcats wouldn't take it?

Posted by: rb | Jun 28, 2007 4:35:17 PM

Yesterday, WFNZ reported that the Bobcats declined to trade Sean "My Knees Hurt" May for the Net's 17th pick. True or false? If true, how in the world could they NOT make a trade like that? Too much baby blue in the front office, I suspect....

Slick: I don't think Green or Noah will be available with the 8 pick (maybe Noah). So we're probably talking more about Wright versus Thornton, and that's an interesting bake-off

What are your thoughts on Jeff Green? Do you think he is a good fit and can contribute next year if the Bobcats pick him?

Posted by: Mike | Jun 28, 2007 4:37:24 PM

Jake: usually trades are more talk than reality. However, if Yi is still on the board after the seventh pick, I bet the Bobcats and Warriors spend all five minutes between picks trying to work out a deal tonight that sends the rights to Yi to the West Coast.

I like Ray Allen alot, but he is getting up there in years, so why wouldn't we deal with Golden State and instead of our #8 for Monta Ellis and #18, let's just trade our #8 for Jason Richardson. Keep our #22 for a big man and resign Wallace. Easier said than done, but this would be a great start for many playoff runs. I don't think he would go to Charlotte, but we could put big bucks in front of Chauncey Billups and have Billups, Richardson, Wallace, Okafor and Primo with Felton, Morrison, Hermann, Carroll, #22 pick, etc. coming off the bench. Your thoughts!

Are the Bobcats still actively shopping their two picks?

Also for what reason would the Bobcats hold on the Sean May if the Nets were offering their 17th pick for him? Sean May does more partying around Charlotte than hitting the gym.

Do the charlotte.com IT guys know that a comments section does not equal a live chat blog?

Any chance at them taking Thaddeus Young should he be there at 8? He's got similar measurables to Kevin Durant and was as heralded as Durant coming outta high school and while he never put together a full season like Durant did at Texas, Young showed real flashes during the year. I think a guy like him could be a hidden gem. May take a year or two, but he could be a steal.

Rick,

If Noah is picked in the top 7, doesn't that leave us with an additional possibility besides Wright/Thornton? I'm guessing either Green, Brewer or (if he really drops) Yi.

Posted by: Holland | Jun 28, 2007 4:40:08 PM

Rick - Please tell me why, other than the fact that he's from UNC, the Bobcats would be interested in Brandan Wright. What need does he fill? That, to me, seems like a TERRIBLE pick.

Posted by: Bill | Jun 28, 2007 4:40:42 PM

Bobcats planet:
It's true that Sean's injury problems, and the concerns he's not self-disciplined enough, are real. However, he's had some big-time games (versus Atlanta and Orlando). I guess the reasoning is, for whatever headaches, he's more valuable than the 17th-best player (for instance, if you draft Sean Williams at No. 17, might you not be taking on a higher maintenance issue?)

Posted by: rick bonnell | Jun 28, 2007 4:40:55 PM

PS- Noah sucks and is extremely overrated. Yes he's got "name" value, but so did Adam Morrison, and I've yet to be impressed with AmMo in the NBA.

I'm sure you have seen the Hollinger stats. What do you make of them and Brewer's alarmingly low score. They appear to be such a good indicator, I would want my # 8 pick to be in or at least near the top 10 if a college player.

Rick,
Would you be dissapointed in the front office if the Bobcats stayed put and drafted Brandan Wright?

Posted by: steve beurlein | Jun 28, 2007 4:42:54 PM

R.B. -- Ellis is good, but let's not turn him into an all-star just yet. I'd consider making that trade, but I wouldn't call it a lock as the right thing to do.

Posted by: rick bonnell | Jun 28, 2007 4:43:06 PM

Your comments on the Wallace re-signing are dubious. I don't think this issue can be underlined enough: If the Bobcats don't re-sign Wallace, then they have absolutely ZERO credibility with anybody. Tell me this won't happen...give me a percentage at least!!!

Posted by: ASChin | Jun 28, 2007 4:43:06 PM

Are Michael Jordan and all the other Bobcat's executives going to be in Charlotte tonight during the draft?
Also, what input will Sam Vincent have on this pick he will hopefully be coaching a long, long time?

Posted by: Jake again | Jun 28, 2007 4:44:07 PM

I like Monta Ellis...What's the chance of getting that deal done?

Posted by: Barry | Jun 28, 2007 4:44:09 PM

Wright isn't a need, but at #8 he's good value. I wouldn't trade up to get him, but like I said. At 8 he's value. Same way the Panthers took Kalil in the NFL draft.
