Dominoes pushing Wallace back to Bobcats

There's every reason in the world (or at least around the NBA) to think that Gerald Wallace has now narrowed his focus on re-signing with the Charlotte Bobcats.

Over the past week, several free-agent dominos have fallen -- Orlando agreeing to sign Rashard Lewis, Dallas bringing back Devean George, for instance. Another team reportedly interested in Wallace has been the Detroit Pistons.

But Wallace would probably back up Tayshaun Prince (at a salary no better than what he'd be earning with Charlotte), and why would he want to do that? Yes, the Pistons are an Eastern Conference contender, albeit an aging one. Their window as a power in the East is closing fast.

The Bobcats, however, showed Wallace they're serious about quickly becoming a playoff team when they traded for Golden State's Jason Richardson on draft night.

The Bobcats and Wallace's agent say talks are proceeding smoothly and without rancor.
