Vincent a witness for defense

If the Bobcats can’t get some stops this season, it won’t be for a lack of practice.

New coach Sam Vincent anticipates devoting the majority of a typical practice to defense. He doesn’t buy the reasoning that some NBA players just aren’t built to be good defenders.

“If you’re good enough – talented enough – to get to the NBA, you’re already a good defensive player,’’ Vincent said last week.

He used new Bobcat Jason Richardson to illustrate his point. Vincent said anyone with Richardson’s quickness, strength and explosiveness has the tools to be a strong defender. He added that Richardson’s background at Michigan State (Vincent is also a Spartan) means he was taught good defensive fundamentals.

Translation: Vincent will hold everyone accountable for the work at the defensive end. That’s good because the month this team spent without shotblocker Emeka Okafor last season proved the perimeter defense needs an upgrade.

Great defense leads to great transition basketball...this is going to be an interesting year.

The only defense he is going to practice is defending is convicted cocaine user assistant coach, and defending Bobcat Johnson from being a racist.

Bobcat Johnson should hire that other racist in NY Isiah Thomas. He will fit in well with the Black Every Time Bunch.

White coaches = wins.

Just look at my Panthers.

Nice Blog today. If the team picks up its defense, with the players we have, we could very well be a playoff team.

For all you bashers, get a life.

Hey John Fox. I saw your Panthers on Sunday. I also watched the Super Bowl last year. I also remember the coaches. Get a life. If you don't care for the Bobcats then stop reading the forum and posting silly, childish comments. And for God's sake stop acting like BET (Blatantly Envious Trash)! Go Bobcats!
Nice comments Bonnell.

George Shinn poster, which assistant coach had a cocaine conviction?

Posted by: david | Sep 18, 2007 5:21:09 PM

Uhh, that'd be Paul Mokeski: "After his playing career ended, he coached in the CBA and ABA, but was fired from the Kansas City Knights in July of 2000 when he was arrested for possession of cocaine."

If the people in this country would spend their time doing constructive things and not spend their time with their noses in someone elses business trying to judge them, this would be a hell of alot better world to live in.
Let me tell you a true story..
I had a neighbor that was a preacher just out of college about to get his first church. Well his flock would meet at his house all the time, so imagine the traffic in and out of his property. Well someone desided to start a rumor saying he was selling drugs since his flock all were in their early 20's some with modern haircuts and dressed modern too. A few months later I noticed a 4 wheel drive police suv in his driveway and cops going all through his house. I was told later that someone had called "Crime Stoppers" and told them they were selling drugs at his house. The cops didnt find anything and left. My neighbor the Preacher moved away thinking their was something powerful wrong going on.
So what Im saying is a mans life was almost ruined by "Hear Say" so be sure what you say is the truth or it could happen to you too.

Yes I agree David. I understand the assistant coach went to that same house looking for some crack. You never know about people.

LOL; I hear ya George Shinn. You ought to be ashamed of yourself for ripping off the Charlotte locals all those years and then just leaving like you did. Shame, Shame....

You all kill me talkin about blk and white coaches and front office execs. Color has nothing to do with how you can lead a team. Since the Panthers began in 1995, they have only had 3 winning seasons out of 12 years...and two more seasons ending at 8-8. So if color was the issue..its time for the Panthers to try something new, HUH!?!?!...but back to the matter at hand...Great defense will lead to a strong offense. Any body can put the ball thru ther hoop...but it takes a real player to play DEFENSE!!...-Chan
