Help would really cost Bobcats
The simple decisions are over. Now it might get interesting.
The Bobcats waived center Jameel Watkins and guard C.J. Watson on Wednesday. That trims the roster to 15 – the maximum an NBA team can have during the regular season.
Every remaining player has a guaranteed contract for this season. These were precisely the 15 players anyone paying attention would have said would make the team.
That doesn’t mean the Bobcats should stop looking around.
By Friday, every team in the league must do what the Bobcats did – trim to 15 or fewer players. That means a big man or two might be let go, and let’s face it – this team needs help inside.
Management should have heeded coach Sam Vincent’s concern and signed a Michael Ruffin or Marc Jackson. They could get a second chance on Ruffin; his contract is only partially guaranteed this season, and it’s possible the Milwaukee Bucks could make him their last cut.
Season-ending injuries to Sean May and Adam Morrison amplify the Bobcats’ need for experienced depth if they still expect to make the playoffs.
That depth would now be costly, because the Bobcats would have to cut or trade a player with a guaranteed contract to open a roster spot. Frugal as this organization can be, I wonder if that’s a real possibility.

Harrington would be the guy to go right? He is a vet, but his knee and age could be an issue.

Sign Anderson Varejao.........

I think we are missing the point. May and Morrison were, at best, going to be contributing players, coming off of the bench. The need for an active big man who could play the 4 or 5 was there, regardless of the injuries. Speaking of the injuries, how in the h--- did Morrison snap his ACL on D like that. Is he that stiff that he couldn't even gaurd fast-as-lightning Walton!

Definetly, Harrington must be the guy to trade or release. PLEASE I totally support Bobcat Fan D: Sign Anderson Varejao. If this move will cost, make it worth the money. ANDERSON VAREJAO is the more athletic, versatile and proven big guy that likes to hustle, that is available right now.

Hey NORTHCLIQ: As for you, if you really know what the ACL you wouldn't be saying that. That is a very sensitive ligament that can be hurt just by walking. Even the most athletic person, only needs a simple wrong twist in the knee to snap his ACL. Imaging a collision witha 6'8" 235 Pounds guy like Luke Walton. Why do you think that is probably the most common injury in athletes all arround the Sports industry: NBA, MLB, NHL, NFL, Soccer, Rugby, Lacrosse, Wrestling, Weightlifting, etc.?

Even if we got rid of Harrington, Varejo is going to want a multiyear deal that is probably too expensive for his actual value. It would be stupid to add him and then next year May is back for good (hopefully) and trying to sign players to extensions and new contracts, ie Herrmann.

I hear ya ROBC! That was more a take on Morrisons defense than the injury.

Hah...Sean May back for good? How about Sean May back at ALL? We won't even get THAT!

Hey North by northwest click, clit, whatever, Coach Vincent says Morrison was playing great defense this year. If it was good enough for coach who are you to criticize? The Hawks need fans.
