Injured May guaranteed $2.7 million for 2008-09 season

Some of you have e-mailed me, curious about whether the Bobcats would exercise the fourth-season option on Sean May’s rookie-scale contract, considering May’s injury issues.

Turns out that’s a moot point: Bobcats vice president Bernie Bickerstaff says the team exercised those options on May and Raymond Felton over the summer. That means May (the 13th pick in 2005) is guaranteed about $2.7 million next season and Felton (the 5th pick the same year) is guaranteed nearly $4.2 million.

May is out for the season, following micro-fracture surgery this month on his right knee. The Bobcats had until Oct. 31 to exercise those options; the alternative would have been allowing May and/or Felton to become an unrestricted free agent in July.

Good for these guys. I say take all you can from this racist organization. Bobcat Johnson should move this team far far away.

This organization isn't racist so why don't you just shut up!

Though it's not truly an EOE (with so many FOMs--friend of Mike--part of the organization), if the organization was truly racist I'm sure Matt, Primoz, Adam, and Walter wouldn't be part of the team... or MJ wouldn't have invited Buzz Peterson to join the recruiting staff.

Sean May is worthless, he should be a high school coach somewhere in Wake county, not on our team that is trying to make the playoffs. That $2.7M could be spent much better.

Esaw, the only person that should be moved far far away is you! (Sounds like you are a member of the k.k.k. or something)?? Grow up. Yes, an African American is the owner of a NBA team... (He also owned his own T.V. station as well B.E.T.).
Stop wasting energy hating on him and Mike, and try to own your own team someday. How about it???

One injury after another. This team only gets better. What a joke. Good luck Bobcats.

Hey despot, we don't need your sarcasm here. If you don't want to root for the team and don't like them, then why waste the time reading about them and posting stupid comments? This team doesn't need people like you as a supporter. Go Bobcats!

Hey Shut It, Despot has a right to post comments. If you don't like it so be it. The team sucks anyway. Go Pussy cats.

Sean May has spent more time on to Injured List than he has played games. I have read many articles since we signed him that we question his work ethic. Then why would be give him an extension. I wish I could give a so so attitude toward work and get a pay raise but that doesn't work in the real world. I'd be fired if I didn't perfom at the top level or at I would at least have to show some time of improvement. What has May shown, nothing but getting hurt again and again...Didn't the Bobcats learn anything from the Panthers & Dan Morgan. Let May go and move on to someone that has a strong work ethic and deserves to be paid the big bucks.

I really don't understand what's up with the B-cats and May. they should have trade him to NJ for that 1st round pick. He is probably the worst player that I've seen (On & Off the court). Common MJ this is business, not a Charity Org. Get rid of that guy and start using that money WISELY.

Sean May is good for the community though...if he collects 2.7 million dollars, at least 1.5 million goes in to local restaurants ..think of the good it will do for Fuel Pizza, Arby's, and the night clubs. I am going to open a hot dog stand by the arena for his pre-game meals! Go Bobcats, continue to humiliate the community!!! Whoo hooh!
