Bobcats-Blazers: Stray thoughts
Some stray thoughts after Monday's Bobcats victory over Portland:
- Unlike college football, every victory in the NBA counts the same, regardless of who you play. That's the good news about the Bobcats' 6-4 record, the best start in franchise history. OK, here's the bad news: For all the momentum this builds, the Bobcats have still preyed on an artificially kind early schedule. They've beaten a bunch of bad teams (Seattle, Portland, Indiana, Milwaukee, Miami twice), mostly at home, and all this good fortune catches up with them in February and March. I know you people think I'm the Grinch, looking for the negative. Wrong. I'd love to cover a playoff team. But I'm telling you that the second half of the schedule is hell, so they better be 10 games above .500 on Feb. 1.
- It's about time Walter Herrmann played. To say I wasn't a Herrmann fan last season would be kind. I thought he was a stiff. But you couldn't argue with what he did the last six weeks. He's persistent, he's tough, he's a player. And he belongs in the rotation. Vincent threw him in against the Blazers, and he made both his shots. Much as I like Jared Dudley, Herrmann deserves minutes.
- Matt Carroll has been pegged as nothing-but-a-shooter. Wrong. He was 2-of-9 Monday, yet still played 32 minutes and that was the right call. That's because he grabbed five rebounds, the kind of hustle plays that you love about the guy.

We all know the 2nd half of the season is going to be tough, which is why the Bobcats can't afford to lose these early games against soft teams. Lets revisit this topic in a month.

Bonnell, I'm glad you realize you are the Grinch. In watching the Bobcats it feels odd to say, but there may just not be enough minutes to go around to all the quality SG's and SF's on the roster (assuming Felton continues playing frequently at the SG).

Actually Even though they have had a soft schedule they are wining the games they should, which is a good sign, They played Houston very well and should have beaten them. More experience will win games such as those. The records of there eastern counterparts is terriable, which still holds hope that even though they will have a tougher schedule the second half of the season there is still hope they can get a 8th seed or better into the playoffs

Man oh man..who cares who we are beating? Last year those would have been losses so why can't he just acknowledge the fact that the Cats are WINNING?? Its hard to call other teams bad when we have not made the playoffs either..I bet in those cities (Seattle, Portland, etc.) those fans are thinking the Bobcats are a team THEY should have beaten..LOL...LETS GO CATS!!

Herrmann a stiff? What are you talking about Bonnell? Morrison is a stiff, Brezec is a 7 foot stiff who has no lift. Herrmann is more dynamic player who can play the post and perimeter. I think he can be a factor in the way Ginoboli is a factor in San Antonio. You have no choice but to acknowledge his production at the end of last year. This guy is a player, and what I mean by that is he can contribute to this team more than he has been allowed to this season. We will see in February.

And another thing. We all know the old cliche, one game at a time okay. Four year old franchise, never been to playoffs, without full support of community. Think about it.

First of all the Bobcats should be congratulated for a great month of basketball so far. They have beaten the teams they were expected to beat, with a couple of come from behind games. The real test will be the end of this week, when they play Washington (4 and 5), Orlando away (10 and 2) and Boston at home (8 and 1). This will be the true measure of this Bobcat team. They have to come out this weekend at least 2 wins to solidify a winning month of November.

It would be nice to mention that in years past, the Bobcats would be 2-8 right now.

If Bobcat Johnson will slide us a little green we will get his sorry team into the 8th seed.

Why would we want the 8th seed when we're the 3rd seed right now?
But I can't blame a Panther fan for not knowing what's going on with the Bobcats, seeing as how you've got your own MAJOR things to be worrying about with your loser of a football team :(

Bonnell, I know you don't read these things often b/c of all the hate you get. But, you when you blog like this and post articles like the one where you analyzed why the Bobcats are 6-4, it becomes very hard to find something to whine about. Keep it up!!

Nice job,Bonnell.I agree completely.Hermann is a tough player who deserves more minutes. We need his shooting and energy.

Bonnell is telling it like it is! We need to make a trade without the services of May. Another big body please! Following the attendance figures we are being lame for a team that provides heart, passion & just good play! Unlike the Panthers! I am going sell my PSL if Panthers continue this crap!! Any1 know if they are offering that less than $5 season ticket package deal like last year. Call it like it is but some people need to forget about the Hornets/arena deal & support the team. Just forget about it & support all Charlotte teams.I do ! Even though I am fed up with the Panthers! That black cat out in front of the BOFA stadium is hexing us with injuries! It is what is! Is it?? JF!!!
