Good news, bad news for Bobcats

It was a good news/bad news day, concerning Bobcats big men at practice Friday.

Good news: Othella Harrington will be activated for Friday’s game against the Seattle Supersonics, according to coach Sam Vincent. Vincent has been pushing Harrington to test his surgically repaired left knee. Harrington said he’s ready and should help defensively.

Bad news: Primoz Brezec took a shot to the nose, thanks to an inadvertent elbow from Emeka Okafor. It happened as the two played one-on-one after the main practice concluded.  Brezec hit the floor for several minutes, seemingly dazed, but walked off the court without assistance and said he’s fine.

Good news about Othella, because giving up 60% shooting is not something that should happen to a playoff team.

I don't see Primoz's injury as bad news. Granted he is an experienced big man, but over the last two years he hasn't been able to make an open jump shot and he is definately a liability on defense. So someone please tell me why it's a big deal if a slow, seven footer who can't shoot, can't run, can't get loose balls, can't rebound, can't block shots, can't play defense, and can't contribute much of anything is a bad thing.

Bonnell, once again you make a reporting mistake. The game vs. Seattle is on Saturday not Friday.

Oh, no...how dare you lead us astray again, Bonnell? Thank goodness this guy could use his litany of resources to figure it out. Hey, buddy, I'm sure the Observer is taking applications if you think you could do a better job.

Procton at least he has a job unlike you.

Brezec = Deep bench and leave him there.

Procton, don't get mad b/c the guy pointed out another mistake by Bonnell. If he's going to report on what he calls the "local team" aka Bobcats, he should atleast give correct information. Stop making excuses for the guy.

Park him on the bench. He doesn't contribute anything to this team besides being a big body. Give somebody else a shot.

13 with 12 assists for Felton tonight. Pretty good pg production. I'm glad to see Hollins playing so well. He's looking more and more like he could actually develop into some kind of player down low (surprise, surprise). Brezec should not be in the NBA, simple as that.

Othella looked a mess tonight. I'll chalk it up to first live game action in a minute but it was bad, short but bad. Hollins caught the ball and finished inside something Okafor had problems doing Saturday night.

Hey Procton, actually in some instances I do think I could do a better job. As a journalist your biggest responsibility is accuracy and any college program will teach you that right off the bat. Bonnell is a professional and shouldn't be making mistakes that could be easily avoided.

Bonnell is a clown!

I have some questions about our frontcourt situation. And while I am not about living/thinking in the past, here goes:

1) What would the cap implications have been for cutting Primo and Othella and signing Jake Voskuhl?

2) Was the holdup in signing Jake, the amount of money or the amount of years?

3) Was the preference for Primo due to hoping he could regain his early form, being concerned about the hit we would take cap wise, or planning to let him go at the end of the year?

I ask these things, b/c to me Jake made more sense than Primo and Othella. And that was not just in retrospect. Jake is no all-star, but with the Bobcats and Felton he had seemed to develop a good pick and pop chemistry (with a quicker release) that Primo once had while MORE IMPORTANTLY providing more toughness than Primo ever has. If someone told me that we had no plans for Primo or Othella past this year and were just trying to squeeze what we could out of them for this year to save money for the future, I guess I would get it.

Bob Johnson needs to add some people of color to his team. He has too many slow white guys playing.
