Hollins not ready to put shoulder to it

  • Bobcats center Ryan Hollins said at practice Friday he's traveling with the team to Chicago and Toronto, but I'll be surprised if he plays.  Hollins hasn't practiced in a week, since injuring his left shoulder in a clinch with Orlando's Dwight Howard. He exercised on a stationary bike Friday while his teammates scrimmaged.  He says he's better, but still has pain and stiffness in the joint. That doesn't sound like someone who'd be effective wrestling with giants over the next three days.
  • I noticed recently that Primoz Brezec went three consecutive starts (Portland, Washington, Orlando) without scoring a point. Considering the particulars (he played a total of 28 minutes in those games and shot a total of three times), it wasn't all that shocking.  However, I couldn't recall covering an NBA team where a starter failed to get at least a point in a week's worth of games. So I asked the Bobcats to check with Elias Sports Bureau (the team has to do that, I can't) to see how uncommon that is. Not as rare as I guessed. New Jersey's Jason Collins went five straight starts earlier this season without a point and Minnesota's Mark Madsen was in an active three-game stretch without a point entering Friday's games.

Thanks for the hard-hitting, in-depth stories on the Bobcats Bonnell. Just mail it in next time.
Tell us what the Cats' are doing to rectify the roster situation.
Are they doing something or nothing?

I think probably the Bobcats should give it a shot at Walter Herrmann, who got big points at the end of last season, and who can also play PF, and start Emeka Okafor as a C. This could give the 'Cats the speed and offensive power that is lacking with Brezec. Anyways, nice article. Cheers
