Bobcats not chasing Boykins
No, the Charlotte Bobcats aren’t pursuing Earl Boykins.
An Internet report on realgm.com noted that Bobcats coach Sam Vincent had contacted point guard Boykins, who is without an NBA contract. The report suggested Vincent was expressing interest in Boykins signing with Bobcats.
Not so, Vincent says.
"It was more a reach-out than anything else,’’ said Vincent, who shares ties to the state of Michigan with Boykins.
Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins said that while he’s always evaluating available free agents, the team hasn’t discussed signing Boykins.
Certainly all this makes sense. Point guard is not a position of great need for the Bobcats. They need help inside – a big guy who can rebound and bang in the lane – far more than an undersized scoring point guard. Boykins is certainly an NBA player, and fun to watch, too. But I can’t picture him being such a priority that they’d cut another player and sign him to a guaranteed contract.

Cut Sean May...plain and simple. He wont make it through next season without getting hurt; he will come to camp out of shape and he cant break his party lifestyle. Think its time to cut this kid and move on. Like the stats showed...as a percentage of a season...Sean May has played less than even Dan Morgan of the Panthers....thats saying something! HOWEVER...I would change my mind if I saw Jordan go to camp and dog this guy like a bad shadow until the kid breaks OR becomes and NBA player.

Point guard is not a position of great need? What team have YOU been watching, Rick?

We do need a backup PG right now... McInnis is not a viable option from what I've seen. Felton should not be considered for losing his starting role, though, he's evolving into an excellent player.
We all remember what happened when Bonnell posted the article about us not considering Verajeao, right? We sign him to an offer sheet. Funny.

Oh hell Bonnell, you just guaranteed that the Bobcats sign Earl Boykins in the next two weeks.
HAVE YOU NOT LEARNED FROM THE RICHARDSON / VAREJAO BLOGS?

Boykins is more of scoring little guy who plays point guard rather than an actual pg. He isn't much of a distributer and unlike Procton, I like Felton and he has shown improvement since last year. That being said Boykins would add another offensive option that McInnis and Derek Anderson can't often add.

I think Boykins would be a great asset off the bench. If we can bang with other teams we could sure run with them. We need wins right now before this is another lost season. Come on Bob spend some money!!!

listen, I know it looks like I am half-ass-ing it out there most of the time, and I cant keep off the buffet line at the men's club, and I like to booze until I snooze so I can booze some more, but if you watch the games I am good in and ignore the rest then you too will agree "sean may is nba material" word. just ask my dad.

Evidently, a big man - center or power-forward - is the Bobcats' most pressing need now. It doesn't look like Othella Harrington will be able to contribute much to the team this season. The management should make a move before this season is over. Although the D-League doesn't have a lot of quality big men (most of their talent is at the 1 through 3 positions), two stand out: Rod Benson and Lance Allred. Rod Benson is the leading rebounder of that league, and, at 23 years old, he is still a growing and improving player. Lance Allred is a quite unspectacular, but solid, player.

Elton Brown seems to me like a viable big man in the NBDL that would be good for some fouls. He averages around a double-double and he provides two things for the bobcats - inside scoring and rebounding. While he is only 6-9 and not a great defender, he is a big body (he's in the 260lb range) and would be much better than Harrington. If Lonny Baxter can play for the Bobcats, then Brown certainly will be able to.

Sean May is not on the court to be "half-assing" it.
More like on the sidelines, full-assing a suit.

Yeah...Felton has showed a TON of improvement. Shooting ALMOST 40% from the field, and even WORSE than last year from 3 (but at least he's talking fewer, so I guess that's SOMETHING.) He's getting less steals and rebounds per 48 minutes, and he's racking up more fouls and turnovers. How exactly does that show "improvement"?

Hey guys, checked out the standing as of late. My Hornets are kicking Bobcat ass. I can't wait to play in Charlotte, we will have as many fans as the bobcats.
If the tax payers had been forced to vote for the Charlotte Hornets a new arena we would have been in the finals by now. It doesn't look like the bobcats are going to be in the playoffs again this year.

Hey Shinn ..glad to see you can read...did you forget how you threw away Alonso Mourning? Or did you forget how you got caught having sex with a rehab patient from the clinic your son was incarcerated in? Or better, how you blew off Michale Jordan becasue you felt you needed the final word on all decisions...as you are so well known for your B'ball expertise? Or how you upped the rates on all the sponsors and pissed them off so badly they withdrew their support? Or how you pissed off both major banks in town?
So George...you were run out of this town for a reason. NO doesnt like you either as you used Katrina to lobby out of you contracts to try to move to Oklahoma. You're a bum George...and no George...there will not be alot of NO fans on the 28th.....this town hates you with a passion....so in the future, keep these fantasys of yours in your mind where they belong...what little you have of it

Yeah...and MJ's "basketball expertise" has been much more evident during his time as an executive.
Posted by: Michael Procton | Dec 13, 2007 6:18:27 PM
Jordan didn't want to invest any money. He wanted equity in my team just for seeing him around the HIVE.
Kinda sounds like what MJ is doing now don't you think?
GO HORNETS

I read about another lady saying that MJ is the father of her baby. She sued him. Here is an idea maybe if BobCat Johnson could round up all the illegitimate children they have both produced while cheating on their ex-wives maybe they will have enough to have a winning basketball team.

Wait a second...you mean he was going to actually show up for Hornets games?
Posted by: Michael Procton | Dec 14, 2007 12:07:54 AM
Bonnell...with the Brezec/Herrmann trade, we have a free roster spot open, just begging to be filled........
This blog isn't going to be strike three for you, is it?
