For a Knicks fan, it wasn't bad ...
Some days on this beat are definitely better than others. Friday sure didn’t suck. I was guest color analyst on the Knicks’ radio broadcast.
It happened about a half-hour before tip-off. Kenny Smith, who does Knicks television, had some family emergency, so they moved the radio analyst to television. Scrambling for a radio analyst, they turned to
This would have been fun no matter what, but especially so for the Knicks. I grew up in upstate New York, watching the Knicks when they were the Knicks – Clyde Frazier, Bill Bradley and Willis Reed dragging his injured leg into a playoff game. Cool defined.
These are not those Knicks. They’re so bad, it’s impossible not to mock them. And to my surprise, I was allowed to do just that (within reason) during the radio broadcast. When a team is down 29, it’s OK to ask why Isiah Thomas did such a poor job as GM and coach.
I wasn’t mean, but I posed some tough questions, like, Why is David Lee not starting? There’s no chance that Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph can co-exist in the starting lineup. They have the same profile – post scorers who play no defense – which means they’re more likely to get in each other’s way than to complement each other.
Lee is an energy guy who will rebound and fit in. Curry or Randolph has to go to the bench.
I made that point late in the broadcast. I kept waiting for Jim Dolan’s censors to come grab my headset and throw me into the aisle.
Never happened. Considering my day started with a colonoscopy, it all turned out quite right.

Rick, is it the New York Times that pay your salary...???

Obviously Bonnell believes that our dislike for his professional work somehow would make us prefer his writing on his personal life.
We don't care, Bonnell!
Write something insightful on the Bcats, please!

Jesus Christ, people...quit your whining! You don't pay his salary, either.

It was refreshing to hear about something besides our losers. This organization will never amount to anything. They should cease operations like the WNBA team did.

Rick, Go back to New York and... you are an idiot!
