It's gotta be the shoes
An afterthought on the story I wrote for Friday’s Observer on Gerald Wallace’s passion for the Patriots.
Earlier this week I overheard Wallace and rookie Jared Dudley considering a wager on the Patriots-Chargers playoff game. Dudley is from San Diego, so naturally he grew up rooting for the Chargers.
I asked Dudley about stakes, and he said what he wants, if the Patriots lose, is a pair of Air Jordans - the new, and potentially final edition of the shoe.
You see, Wallace wears the Jordan Brand, so Dudley figures Wallace can get him the new shoes before they’re distributed to the general public.
Style is everything when you’re in your 20s, I guess.

I hope San Diego knocks the Patriots out of the playoffs & ends "their pursuit for perfection". The media won't talk about anything else except the Patriots.

Call the authorities, the defense is missing tonight! Also it should be a crime to take so many jump shots.

Does Bob Johnson own a WHITE pair of shoes?
I bet they are all black to.

kevin, you must be the funny man on your block. I bet even Bob's undershirts are a color other than the typical white, they're probably black too, right? You and the others with your 1950s opinions need to come join the rest of the world in 2008.

It's funny that Cerebrum and others keeping bringing up this race issue yet Bob Johnson is supporting Hillary Clinton in the election process and not the black candidate, Obama. Get over it.

Hey jackass...where did Cerebrum say anything about race? If you're too dumb to whine factually, don't do it at all.

Why is Bob Johnson even being mentioned..his name was no where in the blog. Plus, if race is the only thing you have against the Cats, I suggest you act your age and not your dick size...and get over it. The Cats are here to stay and appear to be doing better than our beloved Panthers.....GO CATS!!!!

Favre vs. Brady + Patriots undefeated season on the line would reduce global warming due to all the non-traffic that evening.
Posted by: joe | Jan 20, 2008 12:21:46 AM
Uhh...how do you figure, Chan?
Panthers worst win% since 2002: .438
Bobcats best EVER: .400 (this year, and they're not likely to get better with the schedule as it is.)

In a previous blog, Michael Procton claimed the Bobcats were racist because they replaced TV Play-by-Play Announcer Matt Delvin with Henry Williams. The facts are, Matt Delvin was replaced by Steve Martin(both men are white). Henry Williams replaced Adrian Branch(both men are black) in 2006 as TV Color Analyst in 2006. How is this racist? It looks like there is another jackass who needs to get his FACTS straight!

It doesn't matter what color Bob Johnson's shoes are.
Tshirts is all he has left after his ex-wife took him to the cleaners to the tune of 1Billion dollars, yes 1 Billion dollars.
Bob, are you still chasing that white tail? At least he will give a white girl a chance.

I have to say that I only comment about race when ignorant statements are made.
Focus on the facts, compare Charlotte's largest sports teams for example.
1) Jonhson & Richardson are both wealthy men
2) Both are going to run their teams their way
3) Panthers have never had a Black coach & Bobcats have never had a White coach (who cares!!!)
Does any of this change the outcomes of the games? NO!
Yes, B Johnson hired who he wanted. Deal with it! The Panthers did too (Check out the coaches, broadcast teams, & upper management). Is anyone complaining about the Panthers having only 3 Black coaches out of 15? Did this cause them to lose this season? OF COURSE NOT! Race has nothing to do with winning & losing. Talent & skill speaks for itself.
Focus on the character of the people in these organizations. Any owner can be good or bad, but race has nothing to do with it. The Bobcats are a young team and lacking experience in some areas, however we need to support the team.
We should be glad to have a NBA team again.
Bringing color up shows a lack of substance in your arguements if that is the only thing you can think of. The Bobcats may have issues but what team doesn't?
Posted by: CEREBRUM | Jan 20, 2008 7:12:58 PM
Amen, Cere...the fact of the matter is, though, that Johnson has shown a propensity to allow race to be a tiebreaker in his decisions, leading to questionable decisions like a drum line and a stomp team at our games when the customer base is not of the mindset to support or appreciate these decisions. It is also tough to argue that the team has pinched pennies at every opportunity possible (building the arena, spending on players prior to this season, the firing of capable radio and TV announcers and replacing them with inferior alternatives, the selection of Sam Vincent as the cheapest possible option to coach this team despite lacking any experience or qualifications to merit the job, etc.)

Great post Cerebrum! If Bob Johnson is racist for having an organization where 70% of the employees are white(see Bobcats Media guide), then what does that make Jerry Richardson?
Posted by: dsmith | Jan 20, 2008 8:15:41 PM
Kevin, yes Bob Johnson did have to pay his wife 1 billion dollars in 2002(old news). According to Forbes he is still worth 1.1 billion, so what's your point? Are you mad because Bob is getting more white tail than you?
Posted by: dsmith | Jan 20, 2008 8:30:52 PM
i love taking money from dumb white folk
Posted by: boob johnson | Jan 20, 2008 9:49:00 PM
I am sad to admit that kevin is right about me. I am a racist. I feel like I need to admit this it being Marty Luter King Day and all.
I do use white toilet paper to wipe my black racist ass.
