Wallace could shut down for season
Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace is leaning toward shutting it down for the rest of the season.
He missed his second straight game Tuesday with a groin injury that he says is affecting abdominal muscles. He said he won’t play Wednesday in New York against the Knicks and has misgivings about playing in any of the remaining handful of games this season.
"I don’t want to go through the whole summer rehabbing" a groin injury, Wallace said before the Timberwolves game Tuesday night. A MRI showed no tear in his left groin, but Wallace is concerned that continuing to play would have that effect.

Of course despite what a doctor may think he's going to decide to shut himself down because of soreness that he thinks will get worse but has no idea. Unreal.
He's a lazy piece of garbage in the first year of a new contract, what does this selfish player have to play for?
Good riddance. Look for another 5 game win streak before the season is over now that he's out again.

Well, Timbo, we got one out of the way! Granted, it was against the third-worst team in the league, but they should really be proud of the way they fought after they blew a 15+ point lead, particularly Raymond Felton in not crying after he bricked two consecutive free throws with a chance to guarantee an overtime at worst. As for that five game winning streak, maybe we have a shot against NY, but it's up there, and we (as you should know) are TERRIBLE on the road. As for being selfish, you're definitely right...he SHOULD play these last few games so he can have a lingering injury issue throughout the offseason and into next season. That way, we can move ourselves into 10th in the conference! What could be better than THAT!?!?!?!?!????

This should be a no-brainer. It would be one thing if we were in the playoff hunt, but our final standings position is already pretty much locked up. Tanking the last 4 games won't even help us get better draft odds. He should obviously shut it down for the year.
I can't tell if Timbo is being serious or just trying to mess with us. I'd like to think he isn't that stupid but who knows. Seems to me if Gerald wanted to be selfish, he'd try to play just to pad his stats...

Just curious, why does a guy in the first year of a 6 year, $57 million deal need to pad his stats? Who is he padding them for?
Now, a guy that makes that much should, in my opinion try his heart out to stay on the court and contribute. Look at Jason Richardson. If you've been to any games this year you can tell the guy plays in/through pain. Gerald Wallace self-diagnoses an injury that no doctor has said he needs to miss time for, and benches himself. That's weak and shows no heart, in my opinion.

Well, Timbo, given that your well-trained eye gives you instant access to the medical condition of every Bobcats player, I hereby forgo any criticism of your position. Congratulations for having such a Beautiful Mind.

An injury-filled end of the season has [Gerald] Wallace thinking he needs to take better care of his body. "I've been in the league seven years, and I've probably stretched twice," said Wallace, who indicated he'll likely do pilates and yoga this summer.

In other news, Sean May has realized its not ok to eat everything in sight and Adam Morrison has figured out where the weight room is.

The reason Gerald is having to 'shut himself down' is we unfortunately have an idiot calling the shots in the coaches seat. Vincent said a few days ago that Gerald is still gonna go this season (presumeably to help generate some excitement so Vincent doesn't get fired).
The reality is, Charlotte should do what most NBA teams that are interested in their future do every year. Once they are out of contention, the remove the possibility of fture injury where possible, especially for a key player who has had lingering problems, especially lately (concussion, groin, etc.).
Wallace realizes that SamIam doesn't care about anything but himself and probably on the advice of his agent, teammates and Jordan himself is shutting himself down. Remember, Rod Higgins had to cut McInnis to finally keep him off the court because Vincent couldn't do that himself (not that Felton's erratic play doesn't invite a change, but the change was suppose to be Boykins).
On a good note, the Memphis point guard (Rose) struggled a bit in the Championship game, (albeit he still ended up being their top scorer), but hopefully he'll drop a bit in value and come out and be the best PG since Derron Williams and Chris Paul.

Any moron who thinks Gerald should keep playing hurt doesn't even deserve to have a computer to respond to a blog. There is absolutely no reason for him to play right now. They have no shot at the playoffs, so it makes perfect sense for him to shut it down and get ready for next season. Timbo, strap on your helmet a little tighter, and pray you don't fall down, because you're an idiot. If you knew anything about the Bobcats, or the NBA, you would know Gerald is one of the hardest working players in the leaugue. I want him healthy for next season when he have a new coach with a brain. Thanks Timbo, you're a real bright guy.

Sorry Timbo, I hate to agree with Procton et al but there's no reason Wallace should keep playing. He's far from lazy but I do question his ball iq sometimes.

"Lazy piece of garbage"? Gerald Wallace? Dude, you're a moron who doesn't know the first damn thing about Gerald. Sean May on the other hand....

We need to rest some more starters. We don't want to win the last three games and fall behind New Jersey and Chicago in the draft. One of the final games is against NJ. A good pick next year may make the difference.
