Tonight's Bobcats' game switching to Fox Sports Net

The Bobcats are starting to release details of their TV/naming rights deal, to be formally announced later this afternoon.

Heads-up for tonight: The switch from News 14 to Fox Sports Net is IMMEDIATE. So the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves is on FSN at 7 p.m.

Interested in seeing how they manage the Bobcats/Hurricanes split on FSN for next year.

What does this mean for the braves games?

That was my question, too, Wallace. There's not a great deal of overlap in the two seasons, but what happens when the Braves and Bobcats are playing on the same night?

It will be interesting to see how it works, because back when the Hornets were in their last days, they basically seemed to preempt all of the Hornets games in favor of whatever else they could show.

I know back then, Braves games used to only show on Wednesday nights on FSS. Is that the same way now? If so, it won't be such an issue. I imagine they will work it all out, and try to limit the amount of overlap between Hurricane and Bobcats games.

The Braves issue is really irrelevant because there's so little overlap, but the Hurricanes are carried on FSN South, and the NBA and NHL seasons are almost identical in length. Maybe one of the teams gets shipped out to SportSouth, which is where the majority of Braves games are at at this point.

I worry a little bit about the Hurricanes' games, but I imagine since this was a pretty big deal between the different parties, I can't imagine that they will be preempting the Bobcats stuff, or moving them to another station, so hopefully they won't do to the Bobcats what they did to the Hornets in their final years here.

Another interesting question is the matter of the broadcast personnel and production values (both of which have been pretty awful since the team got started.)

Anybody watch Jordan at the Press Anouncement? Never clapped once until after he spoke. Was always holding (and fidgiting with) what looked like a cell phone or Blackberry. This guy realy needs a lesson in business conduct. Best to ever play the game for sure. But equally for sure, he is definately not an "in the public" executive. Therein lies a good chunk of our team problems. Keep in mind all these endorsement deals he's done are negotiated and done for him. But as Head of B-ball Operations...he has to do for himself and I am not convinced he is capable of doing that job. Bickerstaff is doing all the hard work behind the scenes making Jordan look as good as is possible considering the circumstances. And what makes matters appear even more bleak, no one seems to be stepping up to "tell" Jordan how to act and perform like a business man. Hate to say it, unless he "gets with the program" and quick...gonna be a long next couple years.

My idea was to distract the fan base by drafting Tarheels while signning the least expensive coach and free agents.

Time Warner Cable. We think like you think.

Hopefully the 'Canes won't get snubbed but this is great for the Cats, might actually get a fanbase now. And screw the Braves. Go Phillies.

Bro G quit copping my style and make sure Delhomme doesn't reinjure his arm in his 8 thousand Bojangles ads.

Bro D, you quit copping or copying my style yo. I'll make sure Jake doesn't reinjure that arm, and I'll see if he can throw about 8 thousand cajun filet biscuits at your head, hahahaa.
Tell Bob Cat Johnson I said what up and to keep bleeding money out of the QC with his crappy team in that fancy arena.

Why did they never name it Black Entertainment Television arena?

Posted by: Rufus | Apr 8, 2008 6:48:23 PM

Because, Rufus...we were trying to promote a balanced racial perspective with our drum line and step team, among other things.

They should have named that mother f'er after me, you know that's right.

Rufus, I willing to bet that they would have named it Black Entertainment Television Arena (BET) if BET had invested more than Time Warner. Sorry, money wins.

I think right now, the Hurricanes have scheduling priority on FSN-South (ever since the Hornets left here in 2002). So, whenever the Bobcats & 'Canes play on the same night, I think the Bobcats games will be on SPORTSOUTH, which isn't a big deal since TW Cable here in Charlotte carries the channel.

The main thing I'm concerned about is that now that the Bobcats are moving to FSN-S/SportsSouth, will this help them get more sponsors? I mean, since Day One its been LOWES, PRESBYTERIAN, COKE, BUD LIGHT, & WACHOVIA as the team's major sponsor. How about the official car of the Bobcats? Official airline? Cellular company? So on and so forth . . It seems like to me they've never had a full compliment of sponsors like the Panthers do and most pro teams.
