Exactly what did the Bobcats give up?
The Bobcats weren’t forthcoming in explaining how the future first-round pick they now owe the Denver Nuggets is protected. Fortunately, my friend Chris Tomasson of the Rocky Mountain News got the Nuggets to explain the terms:
According to the Nuggets, the Bobcats’ pick is ...
Protected through the top 14 in 2009.
--Through the top 12 in 2010.
--Through the top 10 in 2011.
--Through the top 8 in 2012.
--Through the top 3 in 2013.
If the Nuggets haven’t received the pick before that, they get it unprotected in 2014. Of course, if the Bobcats don’t make the playoffs any of the next five seasons, the guys who made this trade will be long gone by 2014.

Somethings up with the Nuggets. This is the second straight year they don't have a single draft pick. I don't see the Nuggets winning much in the next year or two before Iverson and Camby leave/retire and certainly not after they're gone.

Whoa, no flavor savor? Looking good Bonny, keep it up big guy and remember, think positive.

I like the trade, lets see what the Bobcats do with it tomorrow.

Best case scenario with this trade (not with the team itself): We barely miss the playoffs this year, keep our '09 #1 pick, and then play at least as well as the #16 pick slot in '10.

How about, "Exactly what did the Bobcats get?"
You would think trading for another first round pick would be the top story on the Bobcats homepage on the Observer site, and the only place I saw it mentioned was in a small headline that lists other recent NBA stories.
Duh?

So they got the 20th pick in order to bring sorry ass Roy Hibbert here huh. Oh boy, I can't wait. Did anyone else see him get dominated by DAVIDSON this year?? He's pathetic. If his game at the next level is almost as good as Michael Olokowandi I would be shocked.
I'm sorry but it's going to take more than this clown to make "I want Dwight Howard money" Okafor look good.

Goooooooo PANTHERS!!!!

Hopefully some other suckers will take Hibbert before we get a chance to draft that stiff. He can't move, he's not coordinated and he's not aggressive. That's a bad combo for a professional athlete. Take Hickson or Speights at 20.

bb, I saw a player in a TERRIBLE Georgetown offense who only got three shots in the whole game, hitting every one of them. The Davidson game is irrelevant to him as a player. Cute imaginary quote from Okafor, too.

I didn't know the Bobcats worked out anyone who is projected to fall in the 20th slot. I imagine the 20th selection will be a big man. I'm looking forward to seeing what the front office has up its sleeve.

2 first round picks can be good bait for moving up to the 2 or 3 spot in the draft. Just saying.

Hibbert??? He looked much better his jr. yr. than he did last year. If Alexis Ajinca from France is still on the board, I would take him-or a boat load of others-over Hibbert.

Trade #9, #20, and Morrison to T-Wolves for #3. They get a shooter, and if they're obsessed with the 'stache, let them have him.
Then trade #3, Boykins, and May (both potential fits or, at the very least, expiring contracts) to the Heat for #2 and Mark Blount. That way, Miami can unload some cap money and still draft Mayo. We get Beasley, unload our overpaid underachievers, and get a backup C/PF.
Get a backup PG in the second round, or make a play for Beno Udrih or Jannero Pargo with the cap room freed up by the departure of Boykins, Ammo, and May.
The 2008-09 lineup is:
C - Okafor/Blount/Mohammed/Hollins
PF - Beasley/Okafor/Davidson
SF - Wallace/Dudley
SG - Richardson/Caroll
PG - Felton/Udrih or Pargo or 2nd round PG
