Minnesota refused to comment on the rumors regarding Morrison and the 9th pick for the 3rd pick. This is Kevin Mchale were talking about here so he might just accept that. If they do would you take Kevin Love 3rd to go along with Okafor or select OJ Mayo and have a guard with great size who can help with PG duties at times?

is there any bobcats trading partner this time,
any clue,

Regarding your latest blog entry about the deal regarding the 20th pick. If Charlotte was to indeed trade May, and the 9th and 20th picks in the draft to move up only 3 spots AND get Cardinals horrid, horrid contract then Jordan should be fired, along with the rest of upper management.

Rick, wouldn't it be wise if the Bobcats trade the 9th pick for say Rasheed Wallace?; he can be that big man whom can compliment Okafor by guarding the perimeter, leaving Okafor the post. The Bobcats have nothing to lose cause Wallace is in the last year of his contract and if things don't work out, then they can free up salary cap space for next season. With the 20th pick I'd go for a big man for depth. Then to address the point guard issue; I'd make a deal with the Bulls for Chris Duhon who'd be a quality backup and I think would thrive in Larry Brown's system. Your thoughts?

What in the hell makes you think Sheed is available for the 9th pick? Even if you throw some scrubs in off the bench that deal doesn't work.

" The Bobcats have nothing to lose "
lol, uh if Sheed doesnt get resigned then that means we lost the 9th pick in this years draft for basically a one year rental.
No thanks.

Bonnell, how often do you leave the house? I'm guessing never. You do this at home from the bed in your pajamas don't you? Excellent. How in the wide world of sports did you survive the Observer layoffs?

Mr. Bonnell,
Who do you think is more worthless to the Bobcats organization, black Bob or Michael J?
Posted by: Rick | Jun 26, 2008 7:41:10 AM
Bonnell I have a very serious question for you...
Goooooo PANTHERS!!!!

Rick,
Should I have a cheeseburger or a ribeye for breakfast?

Who do you think is the most overrated Bobcat, G-Force or Okafor?
Posted by: Harney | Jun 26, 2008 7:52:16 AM
Rick will the Bobs take me at 20? If so I'm excited to be selected. Just keep any player from Davidson away from me. They scare and dominate me. Do I suck?

Any chance the Bobcats take DeAndre Jordan at #20? He's gonna be the surprise of the draft and then I wouldn't mind drafting Augustine with their first pick. This could be a good draft if they get Augustine and Jordan.
DeAndre Jordan = a poor man's Dwight Howard and a poor man's Dwight Howard = a pretty good player.

Mr. Bonnell,
I have a couple of questions. Primarily, how do you think the Bobcats would work in Brook Lopez if he falls to the Bobcats at 9? Also, do you have any feel for how the Bobcats themselves are rating these players, especially across differing positions (ie, is Westbrook higher than Love or Lopez)? If a big man falls to #9 and Westbrook/Gordon/Bayless/etc are all taken, what is the short list of players at PG/SG that the Bobcats are considering at #20? I have heard about the big men at 20, Hibbert/Maghee/RLopez, but not much about the guard options. Thanks.

Sports Illustrated mock draft has Bobcats taking Kosta Koufos, 7'0 freshman center out of Ohio State @ #20 after DJ Augustin @ #9. Wouldn't be horrible but I'm still high on DeAndre!
Also Chris Douglas-Roberts should be available, and possibly Brandon Rush from Kansas if he falls a couple spots.
And Roy Hibbert is projected at like #30, no reason to take him. He's way too soft for the NBA and he'll be a bigger version of Sean May.

Roy, if you play for us, we'll try to get you more than the three shots (which I'm sure I don't need to remind you you made) you got against Davidson in a game.
Grant, the DeAndre Jordan/Dwight Howard comparisons are aload of crap. Their similarities are that they're big, black, and relatively athletic. Unlike Jordan, though, Howard has refined basketball skills, and was MILES ahead of Jordan when he came in the league, despite the year of NCAA experience under Jordan's belt. Futher, it's unlikely he'll even be availible at 20.
Ryan, once you get past Augustin, there just ain't much PG depth. Chalmers will probably be the only point taken in the 1st after the trio you mentioned goes off the board, and #20 might be too early for him.

Oh, and Grant, how exactly is Hibbert similar to May? Fat? No. Injury issues? No. Lazy? No. Undersized? No.
Posted by: Michael Procton | Jun 26, 2008 8:21:39 AM
DON'T DRAFT DEANDRE JORDAN!!! Have you guys actually seen him play? People think he is the next Dwight Howard, because he is big and athletic. In reality, he has no basketball skills whatsoever! He doesn't block shots and is a 35% free-throw shooter! He isn't a poor man's Dwight Howard, he is a poor man's Ryan Hollins! BUYER BEWARE!!!

"DeAndre Jordan = a poor man's Dwight Howard and a poor man's Dwight Howard = a pretty good player."
DeAndre Jordan isn't even a homeless man's Dwight Howard. He's a good athlete, but unfortunately he has no idea how to play basketball.

Michael is right; Hibbert is nothing like Sean May. May dominated in college, especially his final season. Hibbert's final season was a disaster. He couldn't step up in Jeff Green's absence. Instead, Hibbert was more robotic, slower, more awkward and less aggressive than ever.
Posted by: say what? | Jun 26, 2008 8:26:36 AM
You do realize, Michael, that if Roy had crashed the boards and gotten some stickbacks, he could have had a lot more than three shots, right? It's not the coaches' fault or the refs' fault that poor Roy had such a miserable senior season.
Posted by: say what? | Jun 26, 2008 8:30:41 AM
Totally right, the rebounding was the issue.
Roy Hibbert: 61% shooting, 297 FGA
Tyler Hansbrough: 54% shooting, 535 FGA
Decent coaching and an offense that doesn't completely ignore him are all the guy needs to be (at the LEAST) a quality rotation player and likely eventual starter in the league.

Hey Rick,
We've all been amused at how the Bobcats do the exact opposite of what you predict. Why do you still trust your inside source there?
Posted by: apauldds | Jun 26, 2008 9:06:29 AM
Roy is like Sean May, imo, in the fact that he won't do anything in the NBA. Hibbert is slightly overweight and is incredibly soft.
Hibbert has reached his peak already, DeAndre Jordan has an incredible amount of upside. Big and athletic with not a whole lot of basketball skill is a good description. And that's also the reason we have coaches. If they can coach up Jordan he'll be a very good player. And how old is Jordan? 20? Too much potential there to pass up imo.
In the long run I'm pretty confident DeAndre will be a better player than Hibbert. Hibbert is very overyhped and really hasn't impressed me a whole lot in his college career.
Also not sold on Augustin but if available that's a pick they have to make.
