questions?

Hy, it's Rick Bonnell with you for the next hour, ready to field some things. There's no doubt the Bobcats are motivated to make another deal today and willing to give up a veteran and/or picks to make something happen. They've been talking to Memphis. Doesn't mean they will make a deal; so much gets discussed this time of year -- some of it in great detail -- without a deal happening. But there's no doubt there's a mandate for change with Larry Brown's arrival. Questions?

Why would Charlotte even consider giving up Wallace to move up only 4 spots AND a draft pick? His salary is a bargain by todays standard. Also, does Memphis want us to take back Brian Cardinals contract?

Did you see the jrich deal coming last year?

What are the chances of the Memphis/Charlotte swap going through? I think packaging Wallace and a 9th pick is crazy for anything less than a top 2 or 3 pick.

Rick, I am a big Gerald Wallace fan and i think it would be a mistake to trade him away. he brings so much defensive intensity to the team. What is the likely hood wallace will be packaged in a deal to move up.

What do you see most likely happening?

I think giving up Wallace or another veteran for an unproven rookie is a step backwards!

How sold are the 'Cats on Raymond Felton's ability to run this team? He has shown great flashes and I would think he has one last chance with Brown running things?

Any chance the Bobs enter the Beasely sweepstakes?

Hey Rick,
Their are rumors going around about Cleveland trying to work a deal with the Bobcats. I keep hearing names like Morrison, Felton, and May possibly being involved. What have you heard about this?

Also. Is Jordan that stupid to give up Wallace and our 9th pick when their is a slight but solid chance that Westbrook or Love could actually fall to them? From what Ive been reading Memphis has become enamoured with Eric Gordon.

Jerryd Bayless is widely considered a top-4 player in this draft, but he could easily slide to the Bobcats' pick. If he does, are the Bobcats' decision-makers smart enough to pull the trigger on him? Or would they pick someone like Love, Lopez, or Westbrook over Bayless?

If we keep the 20th pick, most people believe we will take Hibbert, but he could be gone by then. If he's not available, who's next on our list?

It's understandable to get rid of some dead weight like May and Morrison, but getting rid of one of your leaders like Gerald Wallace is something you don't do to move up 4 spots in a draft where it's a crapshoot after the top 2. I'm starting to wonder if Marty Hurney is moonlighting with the Bobcats front office.

Emeka Okafor is best suited to play the 5 for the Bobcats because it would allow him to play defense around the basket where he can rebound and block shots. Drafting another center like Lopez of Hibbert could force Okafor to defend power forwards such as Rasheed Wallace who shoot jump shots, which would be a misuse of Okafor's talents. Why would the Bobcats draft a center when their real need is a power forward?

Any chance of the Detroit deals that are rumored to happen regarding Billups, Wallace, etc?

If DeAndre Jordan drops to #20, any chance the Bobcats will take them if they haven't gotten rid of that pick?

Posted by: Grant | Jun 26, 2008 1:19:24 PM

Rick --

Do you think the Bobcats have any interest in trading into the top two? For example, trading Nos. 9 and 20 along with Emeka Okafor and Sean May for No. 2 and Udonis Haslem?

Posted by: Gray | Jun 26, 2008 1:21:17 PM

Minnesota is high on Kevin Love but will most likely take Mayo at 3. If Love is still on the board when we pick, what's the chance we trade the pick to Minnesota for a veteran?

Posted by: gj | Jun 26, 2008 1:21:37 PM

Hi Rick, I understand the Bobcats may be trying to move up. I don't think it is worth giving up the 9 AND 20 unless you're getting Beasley or Rose. Players picked after #2 could be picked anywhere between 3 and 12. Giving up #9 and another player to move up a couple of spots I can live with. What is your take?

Posted by: Doug | Jun 26, 2008 1:22:07 PM

Rick, we saw in the spring a Panthers football organization that had an aggressive approach in the draft from the moment it began. Do you get the same feeling from the Bobcats with a new coach and a solid core in place that they are trying to make a legitimate run without detracting too much from what they have built up?

Posted by: mountaaineerdynAsty | Jun 26, 2008 1:23:55 PM

Rick,

Any word on Jason Thompson from Rider?

Posted by: jperry | Jun 26, 2008 1:46:12 PM

Rick, I know the Bobcats want to win sooner or later, but would it be better to draft Batum and especially Ibaka for the future, since you can get them fairly cheap for what they will become?

Posted by: Jubal | Jun 26, 2008 1:53:50 PM

Who is the best fit if any possible to guard the 4 and give us offensive production to go beside Okafor?

Posted by: Russ | Jun 26, 2008 1:55:15 PM

Jubal, here's the problem with that notion. It's not "what they WILL become." It's what they MIGHT become.
