Bobcats to start Dudley, sit May
The Charlotte Bobcats plan to start forward Jared Dudley tonight against the Miami Heat, and deactivate former starter Sean May.
Deactivating May isn't related to his knee surgery. He has a sore back, and coach Larry Brown wants to give him time to work at the conditioning problem that has held him back throughout the preseason.
Brown also plans to deactivate Ryan Hollins and Linton Johnson against the Heat.
Dudley started 14 games last season as a rookie. He says he's not as concerned with starting as he is reversing the team's 0-8 preseason and loss in the season-opener in Cleveland.
"Hopefully something happens tonight,'' Dudley said. "We haven't won since April."

I've always felt that Dudley was better suited as a 4 than Wallace anyway.

Nice coverage in the Observer this morning. I was really pleased by the in depth coverage of what to look for at opening night tonight. Really great job guys. Awesome.
I guess you want the Charlotte sports community to have 8 games a year to look forward to at Bank of America stadium. It sure is easier than covering all those Bobcats games.

I wish my employer would give me a night off because I was unprepared to do my job. I tend to assume that would result in me being fired, must be nice. Seems to be a common theme, over-weight=knee problems=back pain.

If they're saying now that they're deactivating May because of a sore back, he must be in much worse shape than what the Bobcats have been letting on.

What's the alternative BlockParty, send him back out there again so he can lumber up and down the court?
And don't tell me they should cut him at this point... when you draft a player that high, with that much potential, and you haven't seen him play at full strength yet you can't cut him.
The Bobcats will improve, May will improve. Right now they're all learning how to play again from professor Brown. When the semester is over, this will be a much improved team.
Unfortunatley, the Bobcats don't have any legitimate sucess in the past that fans can cling to during this rough time, but hang in there Charlotte, it will be worth all of this.

Absolutely wrong David. They will get worse before they get better. If Brown decides to stay four years, by year three they should be playoff ready. Its not happening anytime soon with this management & these players.

I like Dudley at the 4 as long as Morrison sees a lot of time on the floor - either to let him evolve as a scorer or get some trade value. Unlike May, he has worked himself back into respectable shape after a year off and deserves a lot of credit for that. I am hard on May, and I admit it is after only based speculation about his night life coupled with his horrible shape. I have never seen Sean May out (but am not out in uptown that often) but where there is smoke, there is fire and the results go hand in hand with the rumor.
I hope May works himself back into shape because we need him - not to mention he makes a lot of money for his physical skills.

I commend Morrison for getting in game shape as well. I know from personal experience that the injury he sustained is hard to recuperate. I really hope he can provide 12 or more points and stretch the defense. May needs to do some soul searching. His NBA dream is going to come to a premature end if he doesn't take care of business.

I don't understand the TV programing. The NBA league pass is free this week and all of the Bobcats games are blacked out. Here in the Raleigh/Durham area we don't get Sports South and I not able to watch games.
Don't understand

I agree. FSSouth is showing USC vs. Washington. How is that regional coverage? WHY ISN'T THE BOBCATS GAME ON? Honestly I thought the move from News14 would be good, but now I can't see games!!!!

Just to clarify, I got to see games last year on News14, but felt the TV move would be good because it could expand the team to a bigger audience. Little did I know that it would eliminate me!

Raleigh/Durham doesn't have sports south.
Couldn't see the game

I'm in morganton; get sports south, but don't get the games. The TV coverage of this franchise has been a big part of the lack of support.

No coverage in Greenville/ Spartanburg either. 65 miles away. Not on Charter Cable Sport South or FSN. Ridiculous!

Holla!!!
I think with dudley you get a player that a coach should love... Because with a vet like LB all he has to say is, Jared go in there play d, get boards and you will earn minutes, and thats just what he will do... Dudley is basketball smart and with scorers like JRich and Wallace thats all you need to compliment them...
This game is speeding up with all the young movements the teams are doing now and May has to loose them pounds if he wants to catch up... Morrison is a nice backup after cutting that shag he used to have... But the team just needs to learn each others skills a lil longer a play with each other and it will get wins...

Any of our backs would hurt if we had 55lbs of pizza and 'rum and cokes' hanging over our belts. He should be embarrassed, professional athlete my A-S-S. Go back to Chapel Hill you FAT SLOB!
