Felton might miss game vs. Knicks

It’s been a rough 24 hours, injury-wise, for the Charlotte Bobcats.

Point guard Raymond Felton (right hamstring strain) sat out practice Tuesday, and said if he feels Wednesday as he felt today, he couldn’t play against the New York Knicks.

Center Emeka Okafor strained his left shoulder in a collision with Ryan Hollins late in practice. While he was in considerable pain right after that collision, the Bobcats anticipate Okafor playing against the Knicks.

Felton suffered the hamstring injury in the first quarter of Monday’s loss to the Detroit Pistons, when he made a sudden stop while guarding Rodney Stuckey. He played some in the second half, but the injury tightened up overnight.

Felton is so willing to play through pain and injury, the Bobcats have occasionally had to force him to sit out for his own good. So when he said “I have no idea’’ whether he’ll be ready against the Knicks, he must be seriously hurting.

Coach Larry Brown said he’d likely start rookie D.J. Augustin against the Knicks if Felton can’t play.

I guess this means Shannon Brown will get even more playing time. He has been playing well this season.

Rick,

Do you think we'll go after McDyess if he gets bought out?

Posted by: Zach | Nov 4, 2008 3:30:57 PM

He can sit by his fat friend.

Hey Bonnell, News Flash: You Suck!

Zach,

I'm sure LB would love to add McDyess to our team and he would make us, in my opinion, a legit playoff contender. However, McDyess has made it clear that he really only wants to play for Detroit and a contender. No way he would sign with the Bobcats. I see him sitting out the 30 days and then resigning with the Pistons.

Rick,

Please tell me that we're going after PF Sean Williams with one of our Wings or a Wing-and-Point-Guard combo for Williams and backup Point Guard Dooling.

I am thinking that a trade is inevitable. Carroll isn't playing and he should be... there has to be a reason. My guess is that the team is evaluating Morrison to decide to move him or not. Any news on this Bonnell?

Posted by: Yeah? | Nov 4, 2008 5:15:17 PM

This is okay because I dont think who ever LB put in for felton will make the team drop of at all. Its not like felton is putting up gigantuan numbers.

And Shannon Brown is from the Tom Izzo cloth, plus he had a 6-6 pg teaching him in college (NONE OTHER THAN ALAN ANDERSON). So he can adjust, that is what Mich St. prides itself on.

Yeah Right, the only reason that Matt Carroll hasnt played is because they are evaluating every one else, and I mean everyone else. NOT IT! Because he only gets in during blow out minutes so he can practice jacking up shots. That is all he does and for a team like the bobcats it just doesnt fit, they need multi-dimensional players not shot jackers.

Thats why Bonnell wont answer about Carroll anymore cause he was riding that dudes left nut forever and turned out to be a wash, and media people don't ever want to be wrong. For proof check 4 - 5 blogs ago Rick finally gave a post about Carroll not panning out so he can always say he said that. But I will always remember how hard Rick was holding that dudes sack when Carroll signed his contract.

Are we in the playoffs if they started today?

Posted by: jay7 | Nov 4, 2008 7:37:26 PM

bonnell,

please tell Bobcats Fo to get tinsley to rid bad contracts of Caroll and Nazr

Posted by: lancer | Nov 4, 2008 8:34:20 PM

The Bobcats know what they have in Matt Carroll. They also know that he has a contract which other teams won't touch. Gerald's contract might be somewhat unattractive as well. So they need to showcase/evaluate Morrison, Dudley, and S.Brown for a trade. If/when one of those guys gets traded for a decent big man, then we will see Matt Carroll get off the bench.

I hate to see any of those guys go elsewhere, but what else are we gonna do? Opponent bigs are killing us. Miami doesn't count 'cause they start a 4 and a 3.5 as their two big men.

Is Sam Perkins, Jimmy Black, Brad Daughtery, or Joe Wolf available.

Posted by: jo | Nov 4, 2008 10:13:10 PM

T-Dub, you're an idiot and your post - with its lack of knowledge and respect - supports that claim. Carroll is a solid player who produces when he plays. Look at the games he has started. If he isn't playing, there is a reason for it. I would bet that is because the team wants to see what it has in Morrison along with creating value for him so he can be traded if they decide to move him. If they don't, then Carroll could be gone because it is obvious that Brown wants another big man.

What are your thoughts Bonnell?

With DJ starting, it's gonna be a turnover fest.

Wonder how Bob Johnson - the preacher of new opportunities for minorities - felt when Obama won the presidency last night. Remember that he was the guy on the Hilary train that trashed Obama with the veiled comment on drug use. Talk about betting on the wrong pony...

Is that the same DJ who didn't have a turnover in his last game?

Posted by: Michael Procton | Nov 5, 2008 4:51:17 PM

Ha! I knew that comment would entice a responce from Mr. Procton. Looks like Felt's gonna play after all. I'm hoping for some more minutes from DJ though.

Nice play from our PGs. Combined 32 points, 10 assists, 5 steals, 5 turnovers. I would like to see the assists number go up, but that also has a lot to do with Mek getting open and hitting his shot.
