Wallace out of hospital, must remain in L.A.

Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace has been released from a Los Angeles hospital, but will stay in the L.A. area at least until Monday, after suffering a collapsed lung and broken rib in a collision with Lakers center Andrew Bynum Tuesday.

Wallace’s lung injury has healed, the Bobcats say, but he still must get clearance from a cardio-thoracic surgeon before flying. The earliest that could happen is during a Monday examination.

The Bobcats haven’t set a timeline for when Wallace might play again, although coach Larry Brown said Wednesday he doesn’t anticipate Wallace returning “anytime soon.’’

Very good to hear... Hope he can come home to Charlotte soon, would honestly hope that maybe he takes a week to go see his Mom after all that's happened this season, certainly deserves the break while he's unable to train/practice/play.

Rick next time you get Higgins or Brown on the phone can you please ask them if Cartier made it to Denver for practice yesterday. All the media has the signing, but no one has anything about when he was joining the team. I figured a D-League player would be on the VERY NEXT flight when they found out they got picked up. Just keep us up to date please, I'd rather not find out at 9 tonight.

BTW Kudos to you on your coverage of this injury situation, visit us at bobcatsplanet dot com.

Best of luck to G-Force. Who is going to step it up on the scoring side???

Rick - enjoyed the coverage of the top salaries, nice work.

It is being reported on ESPN.com that Bynum won't be suspended for the foul, which has now been upgraded to a flagrant-2. This is a joke. I know Bynum never intended to hurt Wallace, but you have to realize how dangerous fouls can be and be more aware of your body and how it affects others. A simple one game suspension would suffice, if only for symbolic purposes.

Really? A suspension was warranted? You are the joke. I love "Crash" and the 'Cats, but why is everyone becoming soft? The 1980s NBA was fierce and suspensions weren't handed out over much harder fouls than this one. I think you're overreacting. Even Coach Brown said Bynum shouldn't be suspended. Get well GW.

Yeah, that's right. I mean, what was I thinking people Drew? It's not like people don't die from a collapsed lung. How naive of me. There is a difference between a hard foul and putting someone in the hospital for 3 days. You are a class A genius.

Gerald is one tough cookie. If there is a bright side it's that the all-star break is coming up and will afford him and the rest of the bobcats some time off. I won't be surprised at how early he comes back to this team. That man is a warrior.

Who are the Bobcats????

People, stop comparing 80's ball with modern ball. Different rules, athletes, and styles. That's like comparing today's NFL with when they lined up 10 yards away and wore cute little leather helmets. Guys couldn't fly to the rim willy-nilly back then cause hand checking slowed them down and because D's were more packed since they didn't have >6'9" guys that could shoot 3s.

Bynum has to be suspended. I watched the replay a few times and I agree there was probably no intent to injure Wallace there was no intention of playing the ball. Bynum delivered a two armed clothesline, shoulder check combo. A hard foul with no intention of playing the ball that results in a franchise losing their most valuable player for several games needs to result in a suspension...

Get better soon Gerald, the 'cats need you...but don't rush it, your health is the most important thing. You are THE GUY!!!!
Best wishes.

Bynum is out after the injury at the hands or rather head of Kobe Brynat himself... Karma your vengance is truly divine!!

TruDukeFan -- Bynum's injury has nothing to do with karma. Our own coach said Bynum was a good kid and there was no malice in the collison with Wallace. So grow up and stop gloating over someone's injury. Even Doc Rivers expressed his regrets that bynum got injured. I don't want to anybody get injured, ever.
