Reviewing the win over the Cavs

-- No one can say the refs gave LeBron James the star treatment Friday: He was called for two charges, both on close calls. Gerald Wallace said Michael Jordan kept reminding various Bobcats to drive on James to exploit (and hopefully worsen) James' foul trouble.

-- You might have noticed Nazr Mohammed entering the game 45 seconds after tip-off and then start the second half. The strategy was to have Mohammed spend most of his minutes guarding Shaquille O'Neal and Tyson Chandler spend most of his minutes guarding Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Mohammed typically does a good job guarding Shaq. Chandler is more mobile away from the rim, so he's a logical matchup for Ilgauskas, more of a pick-and-pop jump-shooter.

-- Boris Diaw is still having ankle problems, and it was reflected in his stats Friday -- five fouls in 19 minutes and he totaled two points, three rebounds and no assists.

-- A nice little uptick in the 3-point department: They were 6-of-14 from the arc. Gerald Wallace made 3-of-7 3s, after missing his previous seven 3s.

lebron still got away with 2 blatant travels but i will say it was incredibly equally called. my favorite call was boris being called out of bounds in the 4th quarter. nowhere close. great win. washington next.

Good game - but with Diaw, he is having problems because he is out of shape. I say trade him while we can still do something with him and for Pete's sake start Nazr....he is proving himself night in and night out. GO CATS!

Rick,

What's your take on why Coach Brown wants to personally talk to Iverson about his plan to retire? AI (most likely) will not effect the Bobcats this season and Brown has coached hundreds of players. Where is the real connection between those two?

Nazr is doing great and the center position has suddenly become a strong position for us with Nazr doing everything and Chandler able to play great D. That's a great rotation. If they could just get 2 power forwards..this team would be contending for 4 seed....one bruiser type power forward and a backup. This is assuming that Felton plays smart. Think about it..this team is loaded at the wings with Wallace, Jackson, Murray, Hederson, Graham, Brown...and Felton and the small guy at the point. If they get a big power forward, Diaw can be a backup at two positions, PF, SF.jackson, Wallace, and Murray out on the perimeter can put a scare into any team...even contenders. That's a very athletic group for defense and offense. This team has come a long way when we consider the fact that we can win without Felton trying to be a hero. Felton can put up a modest numbers and learn to play better d and penetrate and dish. Then, he can become a very good point guard. He will fail if he tries to be the scorer. it's good that he has some offensive arsenal, but that shouldn't be his main concer or forte. Larry Brown is a great coach because he understands what is best for the individual as well as the team. The nobodys on pistons became star players once he got there. And Iverson was at his best with Brown..that's why Iverson wants to play for Brown again.

The Bobs have been doing great things at home of late, but they need the same intensity when they leave the house. They are one of only three teams in the league that are winless on the road. The other two are New Jersey and Minnesota who between them have an overall record of 1-31. Not the sort of company you want to keep.
Maybe Larry needs to look for a place with sleep number beds or something. Let's take down the Wizards tonight and we will all sleep better.

You've proven me wrong CATS.....won three games in a row.....these are the challenges you need to live up. Good job Mohammed....you're proven yourself at the center position.

Gerald is fantastic and he's doing an outstanding job....I saw that interviewed on NBA TV. That's a good public relation for this team especially beaten Lebron & Company (Cleveland). Go cats.....Washington should be no match for you tonight....get that road win that you deserve. Good job.

This is a good team, but if were gonna play derrick brown as much as we do as the back-up for boris he's got to crash the boards and for crying out loud make your free throws. He was (2-6) on the line last.

I am glad Larry Brown has integrated the rookies into the rotation. I guess he is displeased with Ajinca's lack of progression and Diop's overall inability to play basketball. The Wizards played last night as well. The Cats should be able to beat them.

hey Rick-
how about a story on how jackson and wallace seem to be meshing together particularly well as the bobcats' 1st and 2nd options? There's some serious continuity developing there with Gerald even commenting how they have been "feeding off each other" in the early going.
