Some good, some bad in beating Pistons
Three things I liked, three I didn't about the Charlotte Bobcats' victory over the Detroit Pistons.
THE GOOD:
1. 3-point percentage: They made half their 3s (9-of-18). There's a misconception Larry Brown hates the 3-point line. No. He wants his players not defaulting to the 3 as their first option. The Pistons gave the Bobcats open 3s (particularly Gerald Wallace) and they made those open shots.
2. Assisted baskets: Twenty-two of the Bobcats' 34 baskets were assisted. That suggests willing ball movement.
3. Naz's fill-in: Tyson Chandler left the game in the second half with a foot sprain and backup center Nazr Mohammed used 18 1/2 minutes to great impact -- 12 points, nine rebounds and a block.
THE BAD:
1. Starter turnovers: The starters combined for 18 of the Bobcats' 20 turnovers (four or more for every starter except Chandler). Ball-movement is good (see above) but sometimes they're over-passing.
2. Giving up offensive rebounds: Granted, when you shoot as well as the Bobcats did (49 percent), there aren't many offensive rebounds available at your end. But the Bobcats gave up 13 offensive rebounds, while grabbing six. That's been a trend of late, undermining the defense.
3. Where's Diaw? More of the same -- Boris Diaw played 42 minutes and finished with eight points, three rebounds and three assists. He's just not impacting the game.

In regard to Bad number 3: When you play with no purpose or heart it stands to reason you don't impact the game....at least not in a positive way. Once again, Boris must go!

Yeah, Michael, you're wrong. Not impacting the game in a positive way? Without all due respect, you are a simpleton. Sure, Boris didn't score a ton, but he didn't take many shots. He still shot 50% which is not bad. The turnovers are bad, but everyone had some, so chill. And finally the point that drives your moronic argument six feet under is the impact of Charlie Villanueva and Jason Maxiell. They shot a combined four of fourteen and gathered 5 rebounds total between them. For PFs that ain't so hot, now is it? Seeing as how Boris played 42 of the 46 minutes, who do you think guarded these power forwards for most of the game? Boris is not performing as well offensively this year, but perhaps he is better defensively.

Whoops, correction: sorry, should be 48 minutes in a game.

I am a STH and have really been analyzing our team.
In regards to Diaw it is obvious he is not giving 100%. When he does he lights up the scoreboard and also does the other things he is good at well. One thing i am starting to notice though is that in contrast to what Rick wrote here I think our ball movement was absolutely terrible in the 2nd half (Q4 in particular). When Diaw is out of the game the ball does not move enough, when he is in the game it moves too much at times. If he would just take the shots the defense gives him and distribute at other times we would be at our best
The 2nd obvious flaw in this team is LB's bench management. Chandler is effectively useless. It is almost getting comical to the point of Diop like performance. He can't catch as pass let alone make a basket, does not defend all that well. Gets out rebounded by Wallace regularly, etc. Why Nazr is not starting is beyond me. In fact last year in the brief minutes Nazr got he at many time I felt outperformed Okafor. Right now I would love to have Okafor back but in the current state PLAY NAZR
Why does Grahm get minutes while our rookies rot. Derrick Brown in particular needs burn time plain and simple. Henderson must improve his shooting (Even in practice and pregame shootarounds I watch his shooting is not good) but he is athletic and has heart and we did draft him - USE HIM.
Wallace is the heart of the team as always - He has given 100% every night this season and without him we are a 20-25 win team. Jackson has taken some defensive heat off of Wallace allowing him to shine even more but GW just wills things to happen at times. He is a gamechanger. If he shot like he did last night regularly (Not gonna happen) he would be a All Star wihtout even debate
DJ is too small and we need to move him while he has value. Last year he was an efficient scorer but the other teams have figured out how to contain that and he is just too small in height and width to really play at the top level. Let's move he and someone else for a solid B/U PF

Has anyone else notices that Diaw's intro at the Arena has changed a little bit this year? The announcer used to say "from FRRRRRRRRRAWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNCCCCEEE - Boris Diaw!" This year he just glazes over it like: "From France, Boris Diaw."
I'm not suggesting this is why Diaw is not giving 100% this year. But I wonder if he is happy here.
Also, FSN had a little "game break" interview with Diaw once this year where all he did was talk about France, and what he missed from France (his answer was mainly French food). In my opinion he looks a little doughy this year, and I wonder mentally he is not into the USA/NBA anymore.

Rick,
A couple thoughts,
1) Bobcats still need a power forward. Do you think the Bobcats will make a play for Anthony Randolph or Brandon Bass? Both are rumored to be on the trading block. Bass is unhappy with the PT he's getting in Orlando.
2) This is a reach...but Shaun Livington just got waived by Oklahoma City. I know the Bobcats are already guard heavy but they could drop Acie Law to make room for Livington. Livingston still has something left in the tank and he has one of the highest basketball IQ's around.

Robert P,
I like a lot of what you said. People forget what life was like when we didn't have a perimeter-skilled big man who could move his feet on both ends of the court.
And since Chandler has zero range on most days, it is especially important that we have a PF with perimeter weapons (like Diaw).
Otherwise you get 2 bigs clogging the lane because they are both useless on the perimeter.
Just get Boris a backup for goodness sakes.

Did anyone read Bill Simmons's column on ESPN? He suggests a Bobcats trade of Diaw, DJ, and Henderson for Amar'e Stoudamire...not a bad trade IMO, get rid of Diaw's contract and get a legit forward to replace him

trade dj, diaw & diop for brand, jrue & jason smith. brand is returning to all-star form and jrue is a big, young, talented pg that larry brown can mold into an elite floor general over the next few years.
the impact of these moves would be significant! anthony Randolph would be a great pick-up, but impossible for the bobcats to get unless you take Corey maggette too. Maybe diaw & Henderson for Randolph & maggette.

You all are r e tards you all think that Diaw has this "special skill set" lol what a joke where is this "special skill set" that's supposed to get us wins.We suck right now because Diaw's "special skill set" is shooting 3s and passing up on open shots or occasionally takin it to the basket and turning it over, lol what a joke.Diaw is obviously not happy here trade him for someone that wants to be here and compete.

i don't know if this is even slightly possible, but wouldn't it be sweet to trade diaw back to the knicks and his old coach, d'antoni? we could send him and d.j. and get back mr. double-double david lee? boris and d.j. for david lee and ANYONE. david lee and the last guy off the knick bench. lee would totally fill our PF needs. man, could we get so lucky? does this trade have ANY possibility of happening?
