Wallace says he'll play tonight

Charlotte Bobcats star Gerald Wallace says he's ready to play tonight against the Miami Heat, after spraining his left ankle Monday versus the Sacramento Kings.

"It would have to be broken for me not to play,'' Wallace said at shootaround this morning. "No soreness that I haven't felt before, so I think I'll be pretty good'' to go.

Wallace said he spent Monday night in a protective boot to keep pressure off his ankle, then received ice and electric stimulation treatment for the injury.

Iron Man to the rescue. Welcome back GW

Hell of a player. The backbone of our team.

Gotta love G-Force... Can't wait to see him in action tonight! Go Cats!!!

He's, basically, the man. I'm excited to see Jackson, Wallace, and Wade go at it. There's a full slate of games tonight and this is the most intriguing one. Keep it up Bobcats!

Although I know he can play through anything, I wish he would take the night off.

Right there with you, Mike and BG. G-Force symbolizes what this team is all about - raw grit and determination.

Rick,

Any Chandler updates?

Posted by: Brett Johnson | Jan 20, 2010 11:59:25 AM

We all know how good the Bobcats have played recently. They already own one win over the Heat this season (107-97 WIN in Miami on Jan. 2). G-Force knows how important every game is from here on out. GO CATS!!!

A win tonight would put us in at least 6th in the East, depending on the Raptors. This game is huge in terms of tiebreakers, so let's get it done!

Brett:
Chandler has started to do some jogging, but hasn't been cleared to practice. From what Tyson has told me, they don't want him practicing until he's relatively pain-free. As Brown has said, they don't want to bring him back too fast, only to aggravate the injury.

I'm with Z, it wouldn't hurt at all if he took the night off. We can't afford Wallace getting seriously injured. Hopefully Larry will keep his playing time down.

Wallace knows how important this win is. Having a 2-0 lead on Miami, crucial road stretch ahead..no, G Force is not gonna sit this one out.

Chris...a win tonight would put us in 5th !
we are already ahead of Toronto after they lost to Cleveland last night

Gerald is truly a player and a good character.....We love you G-Force and God will protect you. Go Cats......we want this team to complete with Toronto for 5th the seed in the East.

Rick, do you have any info as the prospect of the team acquiring a backup power forward? Keep us updated please.....we're anxious to hear some good news.

Z and MJC must be Heat fans, wanting Wallace out of the game. It takes a lot to sideline Crash.

Posted by: ScottNC1 | Jan 20, 2010 1:49:16 PM

Or we're 'Cats fans who have been around since the beginning and would hate to see our franchise guy go down. Especially when this looks to be the year when we play more games than normal.

At first I was excited about GW in the slam dunk competition..but if you think about it, that's so NOT Gerald..i wouldn't be disappointed or surprised if he backs out. He's not a showy guy. Plus i don't want him to get hurt participating in an event he or anyone else hasn't even wanted to watch in 10 years. Howard in superman suit, 12 foot goals - DUMB. I do hope he makes the All Star team, he deserves it.

Dear Randomguy,
Is it really so NOT Gerald? Considering he's already done it once earlier in his career? Yes, this will be his second appearance.

Posted by: Yo | Jan 20, 2010 2:49:34 PM

A true warrior. I hope it's the right decision - we'll need you down the road GW.

Posted by: HAve2650 | Jan 20, 2010 3:03:05 PM

also, GW said that he is doing to try to give the Bobcats a little more pub, now that they are playing like a more respectable team.

Posted by: SDG | Jan 20, 2010 3:03:28 PM

yeah it's not Gerald.. as a matter of fact he said he didn't want to do it and that he's only doing it for the promotion for the team. He also admitted not watching it for the last 10 years. So the slam dunk competition in Not for him.
He was a 2nd year player when he did that and that is big difference that when you are a veteran and when you have already established yourself as a player in this league.

Posted by: Randomguy | Jan 20, 2010 3:14:27 PM

RICK....tell me if this trade idea is feasible at all : Boris Diaw and DJ Augustine for Amare Stoudamire ! That would be great ! And it would adress our problems ! Please let me know what you think.

Posted by: Elliot Motaleb | Jan 20, 2010 3:19:21 PM

raise your hand if your suprised... only thing I can say.. hope this clears up so he can his all star on..

Posted by: The Rock | Jan 20, 2010 4:13:52 PM

Elliott:
DJ/Boris for Stoudemire wouldn't work under the cap; the bobcats would have to send along something else to make the salaries balance.
Two impressions beyond that: I don't believe the Suns will move Stoudemire unless they're bowled over by a deal. And remember, the Bobcats already owe Minnesota a first-round pick, which would complicate (though not prohibit) promising another team a future first.
Also, Stoudemire is scheduled to make over $17M next season. The Bobcats are watching their pennies and will absolutely NOT cross the luxury-tax threshold.

Posted by: rick bonnell | Jan 20, 2010 4:37:14 PM

Didnt I read somewhere that Rod Higgins said they're not against going in to lux-tax, if it improved the team? We already know LB desires another PF, so if it could get us deep in to the playoffs, why is it so far-fetched an idea that we would cross in lux-tax territory?

Posted by: Hoagie58 | Jan 20, 2010 5:02:38 PM

If Gerald is in fact doing the slam dunk contest for the team, then that just goes to show what a great guy he is for the Cats (and the fans). It would be great to see him win it too!

Posted by: PantherDave | Jan 20, 2010 5:04:47 PM

On Diaw/DJ for Amar'e:

No way the Suns are going to make that deal.
