Wallace to play; Diop, Hughes, too?
Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace will be back in the lineup Friday against the Atlanta Hawks and Gana Diop and Larry Hughes might be as well.
Wallace (sprained left ankle) was medically cleared Thursday after missing the past three games. He said his ankle is still sore, but that there's no weakness or stiffness that would keep him from being effective this weekend against the Hawks and Miami Heat.
Diop missed the last four games after suffering from dizzy spells following a workout last week. With Nazr Mohammed still out with back spasms, the Bobcats could use another healthy 7-footer.
Hughes was scheduled for an X-ray later today on his broken left hand. Assuming that X-ray doesn't raise concern, Hughes would be medically cleared to start playing. The Bobcats signed Hughes last week, knowing he'd be out at least another week while his hand healed.
Stephen Jackson sat out practice Thursday with a bruised right heel, but that's not expected to keep him from playing against the Hawks. Jackson is scheduled to be a guest tonight on TNT's NBA studio show.

why would we need diop? we're playing atlanta. al horford is their center right?
in fact when is there ever a time we need diop except for when we play against a shaq or a howard where we need 6 useless fouls from a big body?
also note that acie law had 22 points last night.

Concerning Acie Law: The Bobcats didn't think he couldn't play. There just weren't any minutes available. They were upfront with him about that and he appreciated the honest way he was treated here.

We don't need Diop in there... Tyson Chandler has really stepped up his game and Ratliff is a one man blocking machine.

Diop will be useless for the bobcats tonite, but maybe he will be needed for rebounding. Tyson and Theo have been doing well and with Nazr we might be pretty good. Again Diop not needed because Tyrus also need those min.

Any word on a return for Mohammed? Haven't seen him mentioned recently and know that back spasms can be a never-ending issues.
I agree that Diop isn't needed as much now that we have Ratliff in the fold unless we are playing Howard or Shaq. It's not that he ONLY offers 6 useless fouls so much as he's our best defender against the few "huge" centers of the league.

They say they didn't have minutes for Acie Law, but the trade left them with only two point guards. Raymond could be gone next year and is DJ a starter in this league? I would have liked to see them hold on to Law, that being said I love having Tyrus here.

Not that Diop is much of an upgrade (if at all), but does this mean that we can sit Chandler on the end of the bench in street clothes. He is so frustrating to watch - his hands are bricks which make him a huge offensive liability and his defense isnt all that stellar either.
I know that Tyrus has a bit of a temper and is a little bit out of control at times, but he has an explosiveness and talent to be a positive on both ends of the court. I dont see why Chandler was option #2 last night and Tyrus was #3...Tyrus was the reason we went on an 11-0 run to end the 1st half last night.
Sit Chandler down NOW!

since Gana Diop is like our fourth string center, shouldn't they play Alexis Ajinca before him? Even with a broken hand he could block & rebound more than Diop.

Diop - not even worth mentioning.

Acie Law has an expiring contract. If the Bobcats want to get another look at him, they'll have the opportunity in free agency.

To Bobcat orange?
Yes I did. Just like what I do with all my centers.

You know things are going right for the Bobs when the most complaints on the boards are about the 4th-string center.

yea i didn't really mean anything by mentioning law....i think augustin is still better than law....i just thought him scoring 22 points last night was noteworthy.
and yea i've asked before....what's the rule on nba players playing with a brace or cast on their hand? because ajinca HAS to be a better option than diop. he just does.

I thought we can only dress 12 players. Diop should be 13.

Larry Hughes has been medically cleared to play in Atlanta, if coach Larry Brown chooses to activate him.
