Chandler sore, but will play

I spoke with Charlotte Bobcats center Tyson Chandler as he left the locker room. He says he’ll be fine this weekend to participate in the playoffs, but the next couple of days could be painful, after that nasty spill he took in the first half Wednesday.

Chandler fell on his right hip and left elbow, resulting from a foul by Chicago Bulls rookie James Johnson. They took an X-ray on the elbow, which showed no fracture.

“I think I have a bursa sac (injury) so there’s going to be some fluid tomorrow,’’ Chandler said. “Just going down like that (with no way to break his fall) is scary.’’

Chandler said his hip felt worse than his elbow “which is a good sign’’ since his hip can handle more stress than an elbow.

“I’m going to be sore,’’ Chandler said. “At the same time I have several days before we play again, so I’ll be fine.’’

-- Ex-Bobcat Flip Murray said before the game he’d happily come back to Charlotte next season if the Bobcats were interested in signing him again.

Murray will be a free agent and he was obviously a big part of the Bobcats, both on and off the court before they were forced to use his salary slot in the deal that brought power forward Tyrus Thomas here from Chicago.

I'm glad one of our ex-SGs understands the financial aspect of trades. We didn't want to lose Flip, but we had to in order to get the talent we needed. If Raja could only understand that, I'm sure the Bobcats would be happier to sign him instead of Flip in a SG role. I do understand how Raja could feel betrayed, but professional sports is also a business and that trade was a steal for us. I'd be overjoyed to see Raja come back and perhaps help teach Hendo the finer aspects of defense.

Chandler's comments is great to hear...err, read. Nazr has lost his shooting touch a bit (although he got a lot more accurate in the last few minutes), and Diop should not see a single minute of playoff time simply due to rust, so it will be up to Ratliff/Chadler/Nazr to carry the load against Superman, with the emphasis on the first two.

Mr. Bonnell, what about the rest of our walking wounded? Tyrus' thumb? Wallace's shoulder? Ray's illness? Captain Jack's...body?

I hope Tyson "Chandelier" will be ok

Good to hear. Get well soon Tyson! We'll definitely need your intensity. I was sitting on the suite level and the fall sounded really nasty from up there so I know he's pretty sore. I think alot of these guys need a day of relaxation because clearly they're banged up. It seemed like when Tyson fell, Coach Brown and the team pulled back a little bit and reality sunk in that they need to save themselves for the playoffs. Newsinz, I had the same questions. Last night Ray looked tired and completely winded. Maybe he's still sick.

Tyson took a spill, but he has to be the biggest whimp in the NBA. I have seen guys fall just as hard at the Local YMCA and get up for free. Wallace hits the Deck 3 or 4 times a night and doesn't act like his arm is broke off. I'll be glad when Tyson's glass tail hits to road out of Charlotte!

It doesn't matter if Tyson is healthy or not. The Magic are gonna beat the Bobcats in 5 games max. Tyson will only get beat up more trying to guard Dwight.

I wish we had another outside shooter! A pure one!

I gotta say that was a hard fall! My seats are in the top row of the club section and we heard the big THUMP when he fell. I was amazed he even got up!

Chandler and Gerald Wallace are both just TOO injury-prone....period.

I'm only surprised if they finish a game without getting hurt.

With that said, I'm glad the Bobcats are playing Sunday night at 5:30pm. That gives Chandler enough time to get healthier before he probably gets nicked up again that night.

At least there's Theo and Nazr to take the pressure off of Tyson.

Have tickets to the 1st two home playoff games, can't wait! Let's go Cats!!

Tyson! I hope you heal well. I remember when you were my 3rd grade student in Colton, CA at Cooley Ranch Elementary School and you always wanted to have the basketball at recess. I was 5'2" and you were already 5"3" in 3rd grade. I have fond memories of your schooling.

I have been following your career and wish you all the best! I was at the Lakers game when you played with the Bulls at LA's Staples Center your rookie year.
