McGuire coming; Felton sign-and-trade a "remote'' possibility
Just got off the phone with Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins, who confirmed the team has a deal in principle to sign former Sacramento Kings forward Dominic McGuire.
It's no secret coach Larry Brown likes a variety of athletic bigs. I also wonder -- and this is my conjecture -- if adding another forward would make it easier to move Boris Diaw if a cap-saving trade comes along.
Also spoke with a source who confirmed Raymond Felton is close to a deal with the Knicks, and a sign-and-trade with the Bobcats is not entirely dead. But don't make too much of that. The chance of a sign-and-trade was described as "remote.''

If we could somehow get Toney Douglas from the Knicks I'd be stoked! He dominated the ACC for two years and showed potential last year, especially defensively. Someone else would have to be involved as he makes way less than what Ray is signing for. Who else do the Knicks have to offer? Don't they only have 5 guys on the roster?

With Felton headed out the door, Thomas signed and another forward on the way here...maybe LB is happy with the PG's in the Summer League games?
Or their is sufficient interest in Diaw, Nazr or Chandler being moved.

No one else needs to be involved, the Knicks still have cap space, I believe. We really need a PG though.

0.2 apg

This McGuire guy is a real mystery. Gets a guaranteed contract and he's done...not much of nothing. He started for the Wiz a number of games one season, but didn't do much but rebound OK. Gota believe they are working hard to dump Diaw for a PG...hope they can. He's too expensive for the marginl production, but he's got skills that could help another team.

Great, let Felton go. He is signing for the same $7M the Bobcats offered him last season, and he rejected it (according ESPN). That means he wanted to leave all along. Thanks and good bye!!!
Now lets trade Diaw and Ajinca to Minnesota for Al Jefferson (we can use part of Raja's trade exception). Then trade Chandler and Diop to Washington for Arenas and McGee, and offer the full MLE to Brad Miller. Then resign Flip and Graham, and let's play!!!
Arenas/DJ
Jackson/Henderson/Flip
Wallace/Brown/Graham
Jefferson/Thomas/McGuire
Miller/McGee/Mohammed

Ok dude enough with the ridiculuos trade scenarios, this isn't NBA live or Madden. Nobody wants Chandler or Diop bc they blow, and have ridiculous guaranteed contracts, and why would washington trade away an all-star in Arenas and a decent McGree? And Diaw and Ajinca for Al Jefferson? R u serious?

McGuire's fine for the price we're paying. Plays an LB game (rebounding, defense), and he put up some GREAT games for Washington if you weren't expecting him to score (and no idea why you would.)

"Despicable Mj" starring in the Bobcats front office. He is clueless in player personnel decisions...expecting him to re-sign Kwame Brown any day now.

this is long the line of signing larry johnson and letting Mounring get away.

we didn't let mourning get away, we got glen rice for him. and matt gieger. don't forget gieger. i think we even got khalid reeves in the deal.
8 million for thomas is more than I would like to pay but if you made this announcement right before the playoffs last year, all of you are cool with it. the guy is capable its all about him delivering. he's definitely worth 8 if we're paying diop 7 and diaw 9. its all relative.

I was reading the Kansas board and I saw that Sherron Collins was working out or was on the Bobcat's summer league team. Seems his size and game are similar to Felton's. I haven't seen any mention of Collins in the Charlotte papers.

The Cats should look to bring Joe Crawford in at the point for camp if the Magic don't. The Magic do already have Duhon so they might not need another point.

I say bring back Graham along with his brother plus Murray.
