SportSouth adding an HD channel
To those of you frustrated by the absence of an HD SportSouth channel. I just heard Time Warner Cable is adding SportSouth HD to its digital tier starting in early November. So Bobcats fans in Charlotte, Greensboro and Winston-Salem will start getting Bobcats games on HD soon.

I would just be happy to have bobcats games in Wilmington...period! They have their training camp here, yet we can't watch them during the season? TWC sucks!

And Now.......WE DANCE!!!!!!!!! Go B--CATS
Posted by: keyman32 | Oct 29, 2010 6:27:58 PM
Shouldn't you be directing that to TWC? You're their customer; call them up and complain and have your friends do it, too.

I agree, get the Bobcats in Wilmington!! Complete BS that we can't watch them at all... And Jordan is from Wilmington!
Posted by: Bobby | Oct 29, 2010 6:40:11 PM
Yeah, I hunted around TWC for 15 minutes trying to find SportsSouth in HD. Nope, could not find it, even though Bobcats were saying all the games would be in HD. Not in Charlotte, not yet.

This is good news for Braves fans, now we can watch the games next summer that are on SportSouth (about 50%) in HD! Now if we could get PeachTree in HD.....

Yay for Bobcats HD! Yay for Braves HD!

horribly officiated game tonight (as usual for the nba) but it went both ways to a degree. augustin and jackson aren't going to shoot this bad on the regular and a lot of their misses/turnovers were legitimate fouls. the team looked very promising tonight. seemed like the rotation was clicking completely with the only thing really missing was nazr playing like last year and kwame brown being the upgrade over gana that we desperately need.
a lotta bad turnovers late lost the game but again a lot of em were also bad no calls. they need to have the refs review charge/blocking because they flip flopped like 8 of em. horrible horrible officiating.

We need a point guard!!! One that can take command of the team while not being a weakness in crunch time.

I'm usually not one to play chicken little, but this has been a seriously disappointing start to the season. I could understand the loss to Dallas, but still think it should've been a better game than what it was. Then, losing at home to the Pacers tonight after having the lead and giving it up late... I just find that unacceptable.
DJ just seems like he doesn't have that same spark he had his rookie year, which I thought he would get back with more playing time. I get a feeling that Jackson and LB aren't on the same page... Just not a good vibe off this team right now.
Do you see any chance we make a move this week? I know TJ Ford for DJ was discussed before, do you think that will be re-visited? We need to make a move at the 1 and 5. Period.

Agreeing with Charlottean. Granger and Wallace were working hard! DJ wasn't bad but he got thoroughly rubbed off on picks and screens a few times.
I understand the importance of starters minutes, but Nazr puts us behind when he starts. Tyrus saves us. Queencityhoops illustrates that point well. Knowing that and screaming to Larry Brown, along with other fans, for TT to play in the fourth quarter, I realized LB was experimenting with lineups at the end of the game; hopefully for long-term planning. It's a long season and all.

Awesome, I can't wait to see the careless turnovers and blown leads in crystal clear high definition.

i thought DJ had that spark tonight. he missed a lot of shots mostly at the rim with A LOT of contact but he had some pretty sick passes. he had what? 6 assists? but he had another 3 or 4 that were dropped. specifically the one where he was cutting across the lane and hit tyrus no look coming along the opposite baseline...tyrus fumbled it out of bounds but that was a sick look.
this is definitely going to work. give them a few more weeks to gel it out, jackson won't shoot this poorly, neither will DJ. livingston will get going and we'll get kwame back. we just need to shed the dead weight and upgrade the 5 position and we're in good shape.
augustin for tj ford...after 2 games...jesus you guys kill me.
Posted by: charlottean | Oct 29, 2010 11:55:29 PM
Nah, I'd never give Dj for Tj, even if we're out of the playoffs. but you gotta admit Dj had some struggles defensively when Ford was in. Otherwise Dj was doing his thing. Sick passes indeed.
Oh so many fouls that were called for us and a lot more that should've been. Can't wait for HD to start. While we're at it, give the refs HD cause obviously they don't see straight.

Good News!! Now if we can just cut down on the turnovers... sad to watch tonight's lead slip away (for a variety of reasons)
Posted by: TheDorkLord | Oct 30, 2010 12:34:23 AM
yea i plan on doin that to, rediculous we cant see them in wimington
Posted by: parker | Oct 30, 2010 3:28:31 AM
Wow! Thank you for the great news, Rick! I hope something equally good happens for the Raleigh and Wilmington area as well.

ford's got a lot more experience on DJ so you would expect him to show some veteran grit over the youngster in some ways but DJ also abused him and collison off the dribble. the promise with it all was that DJ showed a huge ability to collapse the defense which IS SUPER CRITICAL and it wasn't something noted in his skill set previously. he and boris and tyrus will develop a very formidable pick and roll game with jack spotted up and wallace or tyrus or derrick brown coming weak side baseline....they did this numerous times yesterday and if DJ's able to improve his ability to finish at the rim AND consistently knock down the pull up, we're going to be VERY VERY good offensively.
the pace was way up from last year and the team looked comfortable. and boris looked at home with his role unlike last year.

Does anybody know if MI Connection customers in Mooresville and Cornelius will get HD as well?
Posted by: Holmes | Oct 30, 2010 2:03:33 PM
This is proof that if you scream loud enough you may get heard. For those in Raleigh and Wilmington that can't see the games. Keep bugging your cable company!

DJ is really hurting us with his defense. He can't help that he's smaller than most other pgs, but he should at least be able to move his feet fast enough to stay in front of them.
Other than that, he's playing pretty well, his passing is a lot better.

livingston was even worse. i don't think jennings is the guy you judge your defense based on. everybody talks about rose and evans and williams and paul but when it comes to getting by you, jennings is right there with them if not the best. he just doesn't (or didn't last year) make many shots. he did tonight.
i challenge rick or anybody to tell me the nba officiating isn't HORRENDOUS if they watched this game tonight. run the tape back. evidence:
1. tyrus thomas gets away with a blatant goal-tend. no excuse. BLATANT.
2. diaw's...(3rd?) foul on bogut, even on tv you can see the gap between his arm and boguts. absolute phantom foul.
3. corey maggette got away with a blatant travel. he never put the ball on the floor and took 3 steps AFTER catching the ball.
4. shaun livingston was clearly in the act of shooting when he was facing the basket, with the ball, 4 feet from the basket and started to jump while getting fouled. no excuse.
5. del fino knocked the ball away from wallace and they give the ball to the bucks. this was so blatant from every angle i can't comprehend it.
6. tyrus thomas saved a ball along the baseline early in the game where he took a step so far out of bounds AND RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE REF that i just couldn't comprehend how they could miss it. there's 3 refs on the floor. the guy was a good 3 feet out of bounds WHEN HE JUMPED FURTHER OUT OF BOUNDS to save the ball.
7. off set of that was, whistle blew play dead on a live ball that CLEARLY didn't touch the baseline and jackson was in position to gather.
8. i can't remember whether it was jack or tyrus or boris but one of em got away with a blatant travel also.
these were just the absolute obvious ones i saw. they completely failed to correctly call charge vs. block as a whole. you can't jump into a charge. move laterally or backwards and then plant...ok......you can't run into a guy and stop a fraction of a second before contact is made, that's 2 guys running into each other. that's a blocking foul. DJ looked to be behind the line when he drew a foul from jennings late in the game. he got 2 free throws, they didn't look at it, every angle i saw he looked clearly behind the line before and after being fouled, never took a step in.
all in all it wasn't 1 sided or anything like that but that doesn't clear the errors. there's 3 highly paid professionals AND a whole lot of technology and training involved. i'm reasonable but this is like jim joyce blowing the perfect game OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again throughout the game. this isn't strikes vs. balls. these are obvious out vs. safe calls. these are catch vs. trap. fair or foul. these are concrete. they aren't opinionated. travels are travels.
and they want the players to stop complaining. ridiculous. i can't even talk about how we only lost because we turned the ball over and del fino made 5 3's. i can't even talk about it because the game was so heavily tainted by something that i can't call basketball.

I guess all that whining finally paid off...imagine someone actually wanting to see a game in HD...the nerve...

Channel 1510, which should be up and running for Friday's game in Detroit, according to Steve Martin.
