Irving, the future Aussie?
If Team USA, with a wealth of point guard options, doesn’t end up using Kyrie Irving, he just might play international ball for Australia.
Irving, in a Friday interview at the NBA draft combine, said he holds dual citizenship in Australia. He lived there through the age of two while his father played pro basketball in the country.
Irving said he’d give “strong consideration’’ to playing for Australia, even though he’s never been back there and has no ties to the country.
And what about his college coach’s intense ties to Team USA?
“Honestly, I don’t think it would sit well with him,’’ Irving said of Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski.

Just play Kyrie, even if it's Australia

Yes I'm sure Kyrie's total of four wins against major conference competition make him eligible to take over a national team 10,000 miles away.

Dude plays 10 college basketball games and basically is saying 'I will play Basketball for Australia if you don't let me on team USA"..

If you guys don't think Australia would jump at the chance to have Kyrie on their national team, you've got another thing coming.

Duke haters are in full effect....Its a young man who wants to play basketball and i'm sure if USA wanted him he would play in a second for them. And Australia would jump at the chance of having the NBA's number 1 pick be their pg. Its called a 20 year old kid who wants to play as much ball as possible. Love how the haters try to make something more of this than what it is.

Hey Rick,
Have you heard anything else from the Chicago Combine? What about Jerey Tyler? He seems like a good fit for the Bobcats if he is avaliable with 39th pick. Apparently he made some bad decision about going pro too soon, but he is 6-11, 245lbs, extremely athletic, decent offensive game and has a 7-5 wingspan. Also, he has huge upside and skills, and he is just 19 years old.
After seeing what Charles Oakley did with Kwame Brown, this is a risk worth taking in the 2nd round round. Is a similar story to that of Brandon Jennings, everyody questioned his decision, his maturity but all agreed he had talent and upside, and he turned out a pretty solid starter. He had almost 10ppg/6rpg in 15mpg, in Japan, that is not bad. He is listed as a PF, but he can be a solid C in the NBA.

Doesn't Austrailia already have a #1 pick on the national team, Andrew Bogut! LOL! The way his quotes are written hear gives the impression of a hint of arrogance.

@Tarhell_Fan; I like Tyler too! @ 19 yrs old, and with bigger HANDS than Kwame has, he is worth a low 1st round and 2nd pick risk.

GK, you're the one with another think coming.
The will at least make him earn it, as any self-respecting national team would.

I really think the Bobcats should get three good players in this draft. I have heard some talk on the radio and such that the draft is weak... What a joke. There are not many superstars in the draft but there are lots of guys who could end up being very productive. Farid and Leonard are going to be just as good as Wallace (who on most NBA teams is just a role player). Fredette is the next Drazin Petrovich and if he is on the board at 19 we MUST take him. Nolan Smith and Singler are going to surprise everyone and Chris Singleton is going to be a star. I would consider trading all three picks to get Derrick Williams but we should get three good players.

So here is what i want the Bobcats to do - if anyone is listening. Draft Chris Singleton at #9 and then Faried, Fredette or Charles Jenkins at #19 (whoever is on the board in that order). Then at #39 go after one of these guys - if they are on the board - Nolan Smith, Justin Harper, Jeremy Tyler or Keith Benson (in that order),

Like mentioned earlier, we should be talking with minnesota about beasley, johnson, or the #2. One of the 3 HAS to be available. All of them are valuable to the bobcats.
We should also try to work something with philly for evan turner. We need a young 3 faciltator/scorer. We need to draft and develop centers and resign kwame.

Rick, I cannot believe how terrible your coverage has become. I am a Duke fan and didn't even want to read this. Your articles are either about small college facts or explaining why you have missed time for personal reasons. Your Bobcats coverage is non existent. Are you not tied to the team? I heard they don't like you - maybe we need another beat writer to ficus on the Bobcats. We are approaching the draft - ru,ora are flying - but you wrote 3 lines that anyone could have written. Wither focus on the Cats or leave. The NBA already rated the Bobcats the worst covered team in the league. Rick, that is you. Congrats! Maybe try writing about the bobcats.

My take on the Bobcats Draft Picks; with the:
#9 - Kawhi Leonard, Chris Singleton or Jordan Hamilton (in that order if avaliable).
#19 - Nicola Vucevic, Reggie Jackson or Jeremy Tyler (in that order if avaliable).
#39 - Darius Morris, John Leuer or Nolan Smith (in that order if avaliable).

Hi Rick,
Any news from the Bobcats workouts? Based on the articles I've read and Silas reaction, I would guess the picks could be:
#9 - Chris Singleton 6-9 SF
#19 - Nikola Vucevic 7-0 C
#39 - A Guard, someone like: Charles Jenkins 6-3 PG, Nolan Smith 6-4 G or Darius Morris 6-5 PG.
I really like these picks, what are your thoughts?

Rick, just saw a blurb from a sports website that said CLT was considering packaging up the 9 and 19 picks to move up. Any insight on that? Who would they be after?
