Higgins: Bobcats have no plans to claim Chauncey Billups

I just got off the phone with Charlotte Bobcats player-personnel chief Rod Higgins, who said there's no truth to the rumor the Bobcats might claim Chauncey Billups off waivers.

Higgins said he contacted Billups' agent, Andy Miller, recently, but only out of courtesy. Billups has said he doesn't want to be claimed by a non-contender, and would consider retirement if such a team claimed him.

"I asked about Chauncey, but only because of the respect I have for that player,'' Higgins told the Observer. "In terms of what we're doing (i.e. rebuilding), it doesn't make sense for us.''

Higgins said he's still waiting on a decision by center Kwame Brown on whether to return to the Bobcats.

Thanks for clearing that up!
Any word on Reggie Williams?

Would have been a severe head scratcher if they even attempted to claim him.

Only way I could see claiming Billups making sense is if there was a way to trade him later for a pick or young player around the deadline

If the Lakers get Dwight Howard (there is a real chance that might happen), adding Billups to their roster will be great. Billups is a huge upgrade over Fisher and Blake, he is a great shooter who could create space for Kobe and Dwight, and he has an amazing IQ.

Where is Rich Cho? Would I be incorrect to assume he is the GM? If so, what is his role?

Charlotte need to make a trade with Boston Celtics and this what it should be since Boston is looking for a replacement for Rondo or looking to try to rebuild team charlotte should trade: Boris Diaw & DJ Augstine for Boston Chris Wilcox (Expiring contract/or offer a mid level contract), Jermaine O'Neal (expiring contract/a Center for the team) Marques Daniels (a good guy off the bench) rights to there 2011 drafted players E'tuwan Moore SG and JaJuan Johnson PF and myabe a future first round pick and or the next 3 year 2nd round pick from boston ... This will free up $$$ for the bobcats

somebody needs to get rod higgins a fake phone with a fake secretary and let him "play" gm all day at his desk without him knowing that everything he thinks he's doing isn't happening.

he'll never know the difference.

Rich is the No. 2 in player personnel. I can say with confidence they value his opinion and his contacts throughout the league.

Rich is the GM but it is a well known fact he is not very media friendly. Basically he does not like talking to the media. As for kwame, forget him and pick up chabeet
