Jordan addresses players at practice

Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan addressed the players at the end of practice Monday. Team co-captain Gerald Henderson and coach Mike Dunlap both said Jordan ‘s primary message was stick together: That the only way to fix a team that went 7-59 last season is for the players, coaches, front office and owner to stay on the same page.

Henderson’s take on Jordan’s speech: “Mike is a competitive guy. His biggest thing is he’s in this thing with us. We lost 59 games last year and he feels just as much a part of that as us. From top-to-bottom, everyone cares about what’s going on.  He’s going to do the best he can from his position to help us win. We’re all together in this thing.’’

Dunlap’s take on Jordan’s speech: “How to link up and stay connected through some disappointment (in a 1-6 preseason). Yet he can see the improvement in the team, seeing marked
improvement in effort levels and our communication defensively. He’s a power voice – a Hall of Fame voice, with its own strength.’’

If he's in this w the team, then he should get a two way p.f. W a post up game and a back up veteran s.f.that can score . He's cheating these guys as they have no hope of competing w out both.

This is great...now can we please get rid of Cory Higgins, get a 3rd PG and another C?

Stick together? Okay Michael, sounds good.

What a shame, even Cleveland fans are laughing at our pro sports teams. Between the Panthers and the Bobcats, we have officially reached new levels of lows.

I would like to play a pick up game with C. Higgins to see what he bings to the team bc he catch alot of heat on here.I think must ppl upset dude not in the d-league & was put on the team just bc he knows ppl in high places(Dad).

LOL @ John!!!!!

Posted by: Big Daddy | Oct 29, 2012 5:01:57 PM

Nothing like a "stick together" speech from a dude that's divorced a few ladies and been absent in his kids life.

good luck bobcats.

Posted by: big gulps | Oct 29, 2012 5:17:13 PM

Well Mr. Jordan - I don't know for certain - but I think we could have drafted Terrance Jones (6'9.5"), Moe Harkness (6'8") and Miles Plumlee (7') with those three Houston picks we could have gotten for the #2 pick and next year's second rounder. Can you imagine adding those three studs and Jeff Taylor? Instead you drafter MKG???????? That dude has already lost his starting job.... MKG you better step it up! Terrance Jones is already an emerging star and Harkness and Plumlee are solid.

Posted by: Dom | Oct 29, 2012 5:20:46 PM

And yes I did beg on this board for days for the Bobcats to make that trade and draft those exact three players. Mike - do you need a scout? I will work real cheap as long as it is part-time. Here is one tip - never trust the future of your franchise with a 6'6" freshman who has a terrible jumper... At least you could shoot and had three years to settle your game at UNC. MKG might not even be in the NBA in four years. If he doesn't step it up and show something big time he is going to be the worst pick Jordan has ever made...

Posted by: Dom | Oct 29, 2012 5:24:18 PM

I wish you guys would stop saying Jordan's worst pick ever... this would be Rich Cho's pick. Jordan wanted Andre Drummond.

Posted by: Ben | Oct 29, 2012 5:48:27 PM

BigGulps what exactly are you gulping right now?

Posted by: TheRealJD | Oct 29, 2012 8:37:10 PM

First, I can't believe people are allowed to come here and slander mj. "Divorced a few ladies and absent in his kids life?" Since when? Second, mkg pick was made by cho, you know, the gm.

What I'm really disappooint about is the fact that cory higgins is still on this team. Its like the FO does not care what the fans think. I am waiting for rick bonnell to question rod higgins about his son unfairly occupying a roster spot. I know that will never happen.

Point: Dom (above)

Posted by: Funky | Oct 29, 2012 9:14:41 PM

Did not renew my season tickets this year and won't be back until Corey Highins is off the roster. I don't mind losing, but at least try to put a team together. The GMs son? Seriously?

Posted by: Skip | Oct 29, 2012 9:31:04 PM

Dom your basing your argument on Terrance jones being 6'9 and the preseason. Also if they were gonna trade the pick they would have traded it to okc for harden not miles plumlee and Terrance jones. that's doesn't even make sense. MKG can shut any 2 guard or sf down in the league minus Lebron and kd. He has a motor that won't stop and will work harder than any other player on the team he will be a leader on this team. A jump shot can be fixed look at Jason Kidd and Gerald Wallace who everyone loved. You guys need to quit bashing Cory Higgins there is a reason he is 6th all time on the big 12 scoring list he can play

Posted by: Sean | Oct 29, 2012 9:43:22 PM

How can a fan take this team serious with Cory Higgins on the roster....what a joke....
His daddy must have some good dirt on MJ...

Posted by: Scott | Oct 29, 2012 11:41:16 PM

The Bobcats will turn it around and make money. For all the negative people I have but one question, have you played in an organized sport team? Money talks get a job that pays.

Posted by: roy garcia | Oct 30, 2012 12:40:43 AM

Hey...the Houston Rockets just waived Shaun Livingston. He is 6-7 PG who can shoot and play defense and can also play along side with both Kemba and Ramon Sessions.

Can the Bobcats PLEASE claim him off-waivers as the 3rd PG on this team and get rid of Cory "Daddy's Boy" Higgins. If the Bobcats don't do this, that will be the ultimate disrespect. I think Livingston is right now the best backup Guard avaliable.

Posted by: RobC | Oct 30, 2012 10:22:24 AM

What's that smell? Oh, it's the Bobcats. They STINK!!

Posted by: dudedawg | Oct 30, 2012 2:17:45 PM

jesus H we need livingston over higgins. livingston fits better with both gordon and walker on the floor.

if they do not sign livingston at this point, we have a problem.

Posted by: charlottean | Oct 30, 2012 3:26:39 PM

If they don't sign him than we can really see what matters to this team!!

We all saw in front of our faces what Livingston did for this team.

Posted by: David Stern has to go!! | Oct 30, 2012 4:56:52 PM

Excuse me we can all see what really matters upstairs!

Posted by: David Stern has to go!! | Oct 30, 2012 4:58:07 PM

it's not like livingston is the answer to all of our prayers. but it's the principal of him vs. higgins. not to mention when we made the draft day deal to move livingston, right before drafting walker it was puzzling to say the least. walker needs a big ball handler/play maker to be paired with.

livingston isn't the player he was supposed to be, but he's still a big play maker and when he's going to be making the minimum....why the eff not? cho isn't going to make that call. correct me if i'm wrong but cho made the deal to trade him and cho wasn't here when livingston played here.

higgins definitely isn't going to say "hey what about shaun livingston instead of cory".

so for all those talking about how great cho is....if he doesn't have the balls to demand that higgins not be retained.......he's just as worthless as higgins. thus far he's been way more rod higgins than sam presti.

2 tickets for opening night just sold on e-bay for $3.38 with free shipping! Going to be a long brutal season! Let the chase for the #1 pick for McAdoo begin!

Posted by: joe cool | Oct 31, 2012 11:26:08 AM

Agree with all that this regime is as corrupt as some others in high places. Not signing some quality role players to keep Higgy junior employed is PATHETIC. They are also holding open a roster spot to sign Jordan's daughter's boyfriend, Jardine, who is another NOBODY!

If Higgy is on the roster opening night, I am officially done with this team. Seriously, I have followed this replacement team from the start, but the horrible drafts and constant resets mean nothing if MJ and his organization do not operate it with integrity. This is just another business filled with "friends of Mike" who are not committed to winning. Barkley was RIGHT! To those who say we should quit bashing Cory...he was and is the WORST, LOWEST RATED FREE AGENT in this year's class. That's right..dead last. MJ allows his puppet to extend Cory on the Bobcat's equivalent of food stamps, or unemployment insurance. This offends me and should offend every person who is paying money to see this team, or purchase any products, or even consider watching games on TV. Rick brushes aside the obvious and will not challenge them about this. It wouldn't matter, as they will spin everything just like they always do. The drafting of hyphen was nearly enough to drive me away, but Higgy will be the final evidence that my fan effort is wasted.

Posted by: Bassman | Oct 31, 2012 11:53:48 AM

Cho probably doesn't say anything and Higgens is probably glad of of it. Old Saying "One is scared and the other is glad of it!"
Looks like Cory will retire here!
Livingston could be a massive help, agreed not to our prayers, but with gordon, session, walker and sprinkle in 6'7" versatile Livingston in situations/mix it up... Nice!, just common sense!

Posted by: David Stern has to go!! | Oct 31, 2012 12:01:52 PM

I'm trying not to think about it too much ultimatley what are we going to do about it.
Some one needs to ask Rod and MJ, if they are going to retire Cory's Jersey here?

Posted by: David Stern has to go!! | Oct 31, 2012 12:19:07 PM

GET RID OF CORY HIGGINS. The guy is a NBDL 6th man at best.

Posted by: Ron Jeremy | Oct 31, 2012 12:30:58 PM

Dump Higgins! Sign West! Can play both guard spots and we need a crazy nut on the team to keep us interested!

Posted by: joe cool | Oct 31, 2012 2:04:53 PM

Look at all the haters. I have tickets and I will be going to games to support the team.

Fair-weather fans aren't worth anything either. When they turn it around and you start sporting Bobcats gear again, we'll all know you're just frontrunners who whine when things don't go your way.

Go watch Kobe and the Lakers be lame while the rest of us real Charlotte fans support our local team.

Posted by: Carr | Oct 31, 2012 2:25:38 PM

Carr. You are clueless. This is not about hate. The fact that we even talk about this team after a 7 win season shows we are fans. It is about integrity. How do you think the coach feels? What about the other players? This team will never be anything if you pull garbage like this. It has to be the worst message you can possibly send to your fans espeically considering all of the horrible decisons this team has made.

Posted by: James | Oct 31, 2012 4:18:45 PM

Thank you James.
