Observer internet survey supports Len, Bennett as Bobcats' pick

This is unscientific, of course, but still interesting: We did a survey on charlotteobserver.com of who you’d select tonight among seven potential candidates to be the Charlotte Bobcats’ No. 4 overall pick.

So far you chose Maryland center Alex Len, narrowly over Nevada-Las Vegas forward Anthony Bennett.

As of just after 4:30, Len had 27 percent of your votes (177 of 659), while Bennett had 20 percent (134 votes). Kansas shooting guard Ben McLemore was third with 15 percent (102 votes).

Kentucky’s Nerlens Noel, Indiana’s Victor Oladipo and Indiana’s Cody Zeller each came in around 11 percent. Georgetown’s Otto Porter got just 21 votes, perhaps because of the sense he’ll be gone by the fourth pick and also that he’d duplicate positions with the Bobcats’ Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

For what it’s worth, the support for Len and Bennett indicates to me how much fans recognize this team has to find some low-post scoring. You can’t build your future around Kidd-Gilchrist and Bismack Biyombo unless the third member of that frontcourt is a scorer.

I found the relative lack of support for Noel interesting; perhaps its concern over his recovery from knee surgery.

And, yes, for all we know the same handful of people kept voting again and again. But with 2 ½ hours left until the first pick, it’s still a conversation-starter.

Maybe it's the fact that Noel has lost 25 lbs on an already noodle thin frame. He is not NBA ready, and is a couple of YEARS away from being ready. We don't have that luxury.

No matter who they get, I hope they got in on the Shawn Marion/#13 pick from Dallas discussion. Rick, do you have any insight to the rumor that Cho really wants Zeller but Higgins and Jordan are overruling it? That would be, in my mind, a deal breaker for me as a fan. Higgins and Jordan have a long and terrible track record running basketball teams. http://fansided.com/2013/06/26/2013-nba-draft-rumors-bobcats-want-cody-zeller-but-getting-resistance/

^^^^^^ agree. and if that doesn't make cho quit on the spot after jordan supposedly gave him full authority last year, i would lose any small ounce of respect for cho.

the marion/13th deal would be a smart use of this cap space. marion's on a 1 year deal so you would still have MASSIVE cap space plus draft picks going into next summer. and you would be able to get some value for marion at the deadline as well or just buy him out after you do the deal.

if you see us take oladipo and minnesota take zeller, expect that to be a trade.

Dude, Cho is 5th on the totem pole, he doesn't go out for lunch without getting approval.
