Charlotte Bobcats' Kemba Walker East player of the week

The Charlotte Bobcats got some league-wide praise for their four-game winning streak when point guard Kemba Walker was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week Monday.

Walker averaged 22.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds for the applicable four games. The Bobcats won four games in five nights, beating the Detroit Pistons (twice), New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies. The Bobcats were the only team in the NBA to go 4-0 last week.

Among the highlights for Walker, he totaled a career-high 16 assists in the home game against the Pistons and scored 31 points against the Grizzlies.

The last Bobcat to win a player of the week award was Stephen Jackson in January 2010. In franchise history, Gerald Wallace won it four times, Jason Richardson twice and Jackson once.

Wow...is this the same Kemba Walker that "some people" said would end up in the Italian League by now.....hmmm!!!!

Kemba is a stud. He will never master the entry pass, but for all he does we are lucky to have him. This is a strong team heading into the playoffs!

What kind of moron would think Kemba would be in the Italian league? Now that is hilarious.

Kemba is getting better and better. His game is matching his effort. Great combination. When you watch him, he is making much better decisions with the basketball. Even though his teammates don't always finish at the rate they should, he is still making the right play. They are at least now finishing at a more respectable rate so he doesn't have to carry as much of the scoring load. I am sure the coach has had a a lot to do with his development. Having Price around has to help as well.

These next 4 games will be interesting. The NBA elite. Not sure if they win any, but how they play and how Kemba plays will tell how far this team has come.

Hard not like that kid. Fun to watch and now starting to become a top flight point gaurd. Nice to have a player like him in Charlotte!

Congratulations to Kemba Walker on this recognition/award -- good work.

Should we pitch in and have a trophy made up for him? Or maybe even a banner that they could hang up in the *Cable Box*? Or both?!?

Is that the dumbest name ever for an arena or what? Name one that's worse...somebody, anybody, please.

PS...with the exception of a couple teams the East is almost perfectly analogous with the Italian League this year -- laughable when you think about it.

NASTAR99 = Hater. "Haters goin' Hate"...

I'm glad for Kemba. He was playing last week the best basketball in his career so far. This is the fruit of his hard work.

Well deserved recognition.

The Eastern Conference is less strong than the Western one for I can't remember how many years. But to compare it with the Italian league shows perfect ignorance of that league (this, from somebody who keeps track of European basketball). Their best team this season, Armani Milano, is pretty good - but, the only team they barely could beat (maybe) in the East is the Sixers (which became after the trade deadline the very worst NBA team).

Should we pitch in and have a trophy made for NASTAR as biggest troll ever? Kemba playing in the Italian league is as bad as saying MJ was too cheap to amnesty Thomas. Love to see that list of missed predictions again. Has to be a mile long by now. Talk about laughable. Maybe NASTAR is tanking his comments of better draft position.

NASTAR funny that you say the East "mostly looks" like the Italian League. However, the Bobcats have played more games so far against the West than almost any other NBA Team. The have only 6 games left aginst the West, out of a total of 30. Actually, as of now 10 of their Wins are against the West, including Clippers (1), Golden State (2), Dallas (1) and Memphis (1).

Great recognition for Kemba but more importantly a reflection by the league on the improved play of the Bobcats. I remember a few years ago the game was over by halftime and we were being manhandled on the boards.

You people need to get a sense of humor...

Steve, I'd love it if you spent some money on a trophy for me....will you?

It's been a joy watching Kemba improve each season. And let's not forget that he was instrumental in convincing Big Al to come play here. As Kemba said in a radio interview last week, the Cats/Hornets are 2 players away from being contenders in the East.

"As Kemba said in a radio interview last week, the Cats/Hornets are 2 players away from being contenders in the East."

Oh yeah, who might those two players be?
