A fanfest for Panthers sponsors

The Panthers’ practices of today and yesterday were not like any other Panthers’ practices this season. Normally fans aren’t permitted to watch the Charlotte workouts, but for these two sessions, corporate sponsors, their families and friends get to come inside the three-field complex behind Bank of America Stadium and find themselves treated like royalty.

Large canopies are set up facing the fields, with aluminum bleachers and folding chairs spread out beneath them. The invited fans can watch practice and enjoy water, sports drinks or soft drinks from huge coolers lugged out for the occasion. And, when the workout ends, key players sit at tables in front of the tents and sign autographs.

The team put a little synergy to work as well; just outside the complex, the Panthers set up their merchandise trailer, giving the fans a chance to buy that Steve Smith replica jersey ($75) before they went inside to watch Steve Smith practice and to get an autograph from, yep, Steve Smith.

Today’s crowd appeared to number several hundred.-- Stan Olson

The Captain's Blog, that's what.

Stan Olson has not made a worthwhile post since he started. What the flip kind of post was that?! Who gives a crap?! How bout a rundown of the safeties who got cut today? How bout some info on who they might be interested in? We didnt hear anything about the possible Chris Harris thing before it happened, but the bears website sure did. Stan's too busy trying to get free soda and stroking his beard to worry with any worthy football news.

Jeezus, what do you people expect? It's a BLOG. It isn't intented to reveal the secrets of the universe. It's supposed to be exactly what it is: Snippets of info that typically aren't worth printing in the paper.

I'd love to see any of you people squeeze any more information out of the Panthers than these guys do. You act like Stan and Pat are in John Fox's hip pocket.

You know, if they pulled this blog (and I wouldn't blame them after the crazy b*tch kept screwing around all summer and then the way you people act) you would all complain about the lack of coverage the Observer has on the Panthers. You're really an embarrassment. Please, act like you've been fans of a pro team before.

Stan, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul

You guys are a hoot! Had me in stitches. Especially the guy from the last post that called Pat the mad Russian "Pat Yasesesheweisnkaseinski...." Sorry Pat. I know what it's like to get your last name butchered, but I still laugh when a good one comes along. :) Anyway, it's going to take much more than suring up one postition on this team. Poor decision making and even worse draft choices have sent the Panthers on a slow but decisive downward spiral. In short, the team brass has lost control of this team's personel. Jenkins should have been traded long time ago, OL Batiste should have been reprimanded, Morgan should have been forced into retirement, and team officials should have been much more aggressive this off-season. As it stands, these players will just be going through the motions this year in hopes of surviving the next major coaching staff change next year. Just my opinion.
