Observations from FanFest on Saturday
Was more than a bit skeptical a few days ago when Jake Delhomme predicted tight end Jeff King would have a 10-year NFL career. Now, I'm becoming a believer. King caught several passes in the scrimmage and looked very smooth. He's going to be a bigger part of this offense than any tight end since Wesley Walls. Been waiting for Eric Shelton to show anything since the start of camp. He finally did, but it wasn't good. He dropped an easy pass and fumbled a pitchout. It's time for the Panthers to admit they made a mistake with their second-round pick a couple years ago. Thumbs up to linebacker Adam Seward. He was carted off the field with a thumb injury late in practice. He went into the locker room, got his thumb checked out and came back on the field to sign autographs. It was good to see former Panthers defensive end Al Wallace on the sidelines. Wallace is one of the classiest people to ever come through the Carolina locker room. But it's hard to believe he's not in an NFL camp somewhere. He's in great shape and still wants to play. Some team is going to have injuries at defensive end and come after Wallace. He's still got a solid year or two in him. There were even some people in the Panthers locker room who thought Wallace should have been starting ahead of Mike Rucker. Seward’s injury didn’t appear to be serious, but the knee injury to Terrence Melton didn’t look good. Linebackers Na’il Diggs and Brandon Jamison haven’t been practicing because they’re dinged up. First-round pick Jon Beason’s arrival in Charlotte late Saturday couldn’t have come at a better time.

The worse thing about Shelton fumbling the pitch, was that he froze and watched a defender jump on the ball.
Did you notice how good the french LB looked making goaline plays (back to back tackles on 1st and 2nd down), everyone around me was talking about him. Also liked the(Alstotian)run by the 2nd string fullback, and the kid that came in after Shelton's second fumble made some nice runs.

I hate I missed Fan Fest. Did Mike Minter take the field in one of those Rascal scooters? I've heard he's going to be in one of those this season when he plays. That's crazy.

Keary Colbert continues to impress just enough to take up a roster stop he doesn't deserve.

HOW DID CARR LOOK? I DONT KNOW WHY HE ISNT THE STARTER HEADING IN TO CAMP HE IS A FREAK OF AN ATHLETE AND NOW WITH A LINE IT WOULD BE SUPERBOWL OR BUST. JUST LISTEN TO ROD WOODSON HE THINKS CARR IS THE ANSWER NOW, AND WITH HIS BACK GROUND I WOULD GO WITH THAT. CARR=07SUPERBOWL CHAMPS

The main thing I remember about Carr, was that he threw two longball passes that looked pretty in the air and came down 10 yards ahead of the recievers and out of bounds. Other then that he looked much more in control then Weinke ever looked.

From what I saw his deep balls where thrown fine. Better long then short anyday. Remeber he is used to Andre Johnson. I am with Mike though, I saw him make some solid plays for first downs throwing on the run. I also got to see him in camp when he rolled with the first unit because Jakes arm was sore, he throw a DEEP BALL Touchdown to Steve Smith during the team period, I also noticed that Steve Smith and him are very close and Steve fallows him around like crazy. And Carr was playing against the 1's Jake had the 2's/3's in the scrimmage.

I thought Ken Lucas looked a little stiff, hobbling around out there like he was 72 years old.
