Don't count on Morgan this week

By John Fox standards, the coach gave a pretty strong clue about the plan for linebacker Dan Morgan after Wednesday’s practice. Morgan’s been sidelined with a slight tear in his Achilles tendon.

"He’s out of the cast,’’ Fox said. "The likelihood of him playing this week, I don’t want to put any predictions on it now, but we have a bye after this week and we’ll evaluate it as we go.’’

Translation: Don’t look for Morgan to be on the field until after next week’s bye.

too bad....watching him play was nice. With today's medical technology he will be back sooner than everyone thinks. If I tore my Achilles Tendon....I would be out for a few years!

If Beason continues to play the way he did last week then i see Dan going back to his OLB position and being a Beast there covering the TE or rushing the passer. With Beason as MLB, and Morgan/Davis as OLB's we should have an admorable LB corps.

Morgan out again??!?! When do we say enough is enough. Morgan was out ALL of last year and now will be out 3 of the first 5 this year. He is good, no doubt, but come on, we need consistency and Morgan is not it.

How about "don't count on Dan Morgan...........ever."

Hi all -
This is too bad. 55 is my favorite player, and this will be the third game that I will be able to attend in Phoenix (Panther Fan in Vegas, BABY!) and he has yet to play a game that I've attened. Mike Minter was my other favorite player, and I got his autograph 2 years ago, but with him gone its Morgan and Adam Seward (but he'll likely be missing as well). A big time bummer!
Be Well.

RJG-

Couldn't agree more. It seems as if all of the other posts think that everything is peachy with Morgan's situation and that he will be a pro bowler in a couple of weeks. Enough is enough-Morgan is just one of the many examples of the terrible, idiotic decision making that Hurney and Fox have made while with the Panthers. Dan Morgan should have been let go after missing all of 2006 with a concussion-the guy gets hurt every year without fail and misses a huge chunk of the season. He is a liability much more than an asset to this team because of his constant injuries. The minute I heard Fox and Hurney basically saying that they were going to 'stand pat' with the team that they have, I knew we were in for a long year. It is long past due for this organization to go in a new direction in leadership but now that Jake is hurt, Fox and Hurney will earn another year to prove themselves. It is going to be a while before we see this team playing well again.

A lot of these Panthers should have been released after the 2006 season.

When I say Panthers, you say REBUILD!

Panthers!

(pssst, your turn!)

I dont think any on any give day expects morgan to play. Its more of a news story when he actually does play. But now we have a legitimate backup with beason; I'd like to see morgan maybe move to the outside when/if he comes back

mattdaddy, is Beason the one that got arrested for pointing a gun to someone's head? Or is he the one that held out almost as long as the #1 pick and only signed because his contract had an early-out that would allow him to flee this horrible franchise after a couple of years? Which one is Beason?

Posted by: Will | Oct 10, 2007 4:44:22 PM

Beason was the one who had 13 tackles against the Saints.

It is unfortunate that Morgan, while very talented, is so injury prone. He is the Panthers version of Sean May. While I would hate to see Dan go and fulfill his potential somewhere else, I think it is time. Seeing Beason dominate vs the saints makes me feel a little better about the LB corps though.

Hey, didn't Morgan say that he was 100% and never felt better after taking off 2006 and was ready for the 07 season to start. Seems to me he was just lookin to keep his job. I guess only time will tell if Morgan was right.

Thats ridiculous. The guy stays injured it seems every year now. I was surprised to even see him last this long to be honest. Back in the day Morgan was an unstopable force that noone could stop. Now all you have to do is flick the guy and he's out for the season. Like him as a person but...his injuries are killing his gameplay...panthers need consistancy and i believe its time to say goodbye to #55

Hey Will, here's a copy of the email I sent to the Charlotte Obseverer executives. Frankly, I hope all racist people like you choke on your own hatred...

I enjoy reading the Charlotte Observer posts online about the Carolina Panthers to my daughter and two sons. I also enjoy reading some of the responses. However, I am completely offended by a post written by a person by the name of will. Will is a racist that is insulting the public on your website. He does this on a regular basis. I had to explain to my 9-year-old daughter how some white people and black people don't like each other and call each other names. She was very offended by this and I was completely embarassed by the conversation and by Will's comments. I have enclosed a word document in rich text format so you can see for yourself.
If at all possible, please place restrictions on Will's ability to post things on a public site. If this can not be done, please let me know where he resides so I can start a civil suit against him. I would greatly appreciate your efforts to resolve this problem as soon as possible.

Hey SYRPIS, here's a copy of the email I sent to the Charlotte Obseverer executives.

I don't especially enjoy reading the Charlotte Observer posts online, but it does entertain me how many delusional rednecks the Panthers have managed to brainwash into thinking they are a "winning organization." Winning organizations win more than they lose, don't they? But back to the point. I am completely offended by a person of the name SYRPIS. No, I'm not offended that he still uses AOL. I'm offended because he spammed the same message over and over and over and over in your blogs, calling me a racist more times than I called him and his ilk rednecks. I was going to send you all a rich text format word document of his posts, but I'm not stupid enough to think you can't go onto your own website and read them yourselves. If at all possible, please place restrictions on SYRPIS ability to post things on a public site. If this can not be done, please let me know which trailer park he resides so I can start a civil suit against him for contributing to the negligence of a minor. Bringing a 9 year old into the suffering and disappointment that is the Carolina Panthers? What kind of sick freak is he?!?!

Hey Will...when I say record, you say winning!
When I say Bobcats, you say "Not us!"

When I say, "Bobcats not winning!"

You say, "Doesn't change the fact the Panthers suck!"

Bobcats not winning!

(your turn!)
