Moore deserves a shot - now!

As this post is being written, the Packers just got the ball after a Vinny Testaverde interception. The score’s 28-3 and I’m watching the sidelines to see if Matt Moore might be warming up. He’s not. But maybe he should be.

This game’s over and the Panthers need to find something to jump-start their season. There are probably reasons Moore was undrafted and cut by Dallas in the preseason. But there are reasons the Panthers have struggled with Testaverde and David Carr at quarterback.

It’s time to put in Moore and at least see if he has something.

Poll: Which QB should start in next week's game?

I don't understand why we punt when we are down by 2 1/2 touchdowns and there are 12 minutes left. Coaches and players are terrible. We are just a terrible team this year! I feel sorry for Steve Smith. He is so talented and yet we don't have someone that can throw him the ball.

Posted by: adrian | Nov 18, 2007 12:49:43 PM

Now we see why Jarret has been inactive.

Posted by: Juan | Nov 18, 2007 12:52:45 PM

This team is just so gutless and has the most defeatess attitude Ive ever seen. Adrian is right, they play so conservative and so scared all the time.

Posted by: firejohnfox | Nov 18, 2007 12:56:03 PM

So, Wait a minute here!!! we didn't go for 4 and 5. But, we try an onside kick and put them on the 40 yd line, instead of going for a first and possibly putting them on the 50 yd line? What CRAP!

Posted by: adrian | Nov 18, 2007 12:56:52 PM

I'll applaude Vinny for his efforts but im unimpressed with this whole situation. When have we had a DECISIVE win? Im tired of all our touchdowns comming in the 4th. this is stupid. Fox cant even get behind his quarterbacks thats why he's struggling in that department. Back and forth with Carr and Vinny will not win games. I give up.

Posted by: Danzig65 | Nov 18, 2007 12:58:34 PM

The problem is in my opinion we never replaced the following:

Stephen Davis (a power back)
Mushin Muhammad/Keyshawn Johnson ( basically a decent 2nd WR)
Ricky Proehl (a 3rd WR who is reliable and can make plays on 3rd down)

Jake was just about holding things together but with him down for the season you can see what's happening!

Foster and Williams are too similar (LenDale White of Ten would have been a better fit from that draft).

Carter is a 4th WR for big plays and no more, Jarrett and Colbert are WR for 5 WR sets at best.

Posted by: CS | Nov 18, 2007 1:01:24 PM

Observations:

Keary Colbert is just plain awful. How does he keep an NFL job?

Foster ran hard today...gotta give him credit.

Vinny was not good today...shows you just how bad Carr really is that he didn't play. Give Matt Moore a chance!!

Why did we not go for two on our last touchdown? It would have made it a 10 point game instead of 11.

Stupid decision on the pooch punt..let Kasay kick it!!!

Panthers are just not very good. Receiver position and quarterback are just killing us. THere must have been 10 dropped balls today.

You put with 12 minutes left to make it appear that the loss was not that bad. But we all know the truth. This ship has sunk, but Fox will wrongly be granted a reprieve for the loss of Jake.

Posted by: Steven | Nov 18, 2007 1:23:19 PM

John Fox and Hurtme have got to go. This is the end of the line. Can anyone tell me anything positive about Fox. Right now not past junk.

Posted by: Pantherfan????????? | Nov 18, 2007 1:29:07 PM

I do not think the pooch kick was bad at all, they have to try something,We past the ball and look what we get,VT been on mutible teams for a reason,He is not that good, that is why,We need to draft a good QB for next year,we do not know the statis with Jake as well, because of his operation,so BE PREPARED,AND THIS IS NOT THE D'S FAULT,they have given the O F many chances, and what can they do? Right now their all still in pre-season seeing who's going to make the roster,But out of all of this, we are still SECOND in our division!

Posted by: #1 Fan | Nov 18, 2007 1:30:28 PM

Are you kidding me? That pooch kick was the worst call yet this season and that is saying something because this season has been nothing but sh*t playcalling from that idiot John Fox. Knowing we are playing a team that is 7-2 we should have gone for it or tried the field goal, that call was so typical of the mediocre coaching and piss poor judgment from this team.
Bring on Coach Cowher please Mr. Richardson, John Fox has set us back at least 5 years with his foolishness.

I agree with one of the previous posts...
we never replaced muhammad, prohel. foster and williams are too similar to be an effective 1-2 punch. i love carter but he is a 4th WR and colbert is prolly bes suited for a 5th WR at best.

SINGLE WING!!!!!

Posted by: Chris Norman | Nov 18, 2007 2:43:59 PM

Play Matt Moore. He will take charge of the team and that mannerism in the huddle. He will have good feel for the game. Sprint him out of the pocket alittle bit. Get him out into space and allow him to make some plays with his feet a little bit and he will have a sense of confidence with the football, the football will be out of his hands quickly and very effecient. He will limit the mistakes thats been plaguing this team this year from the quarter back position. Playing in a sink offense!

Sincerely, The butler'

It's obvious today we also need to fire the special teams coach. Allowing two huge runs, one for a TD on a pooch punt, is unacceptable. Plus we never seem to cross the 30 yd line on returns.

Fire Hurney, Fox, and rebuild. This year is over

Posted by: Sadpantherfan | Nov 18, 2007 3:13:05 PM

Fox with no guts to make decisions, and the team caught the same fever. So on with the Fox show. The final curtain should fall soon. Why is Carr on the bench when obviously he is needed on the field?

Posted by: Rusty | Nov 18, 2007 5:17:33 PM

Moore could not have gone in because he was inactive this week

Posted by: Daniel | Nov 18, 2007 6:13:31 PM

IDK WHY MOORE WAS INACTIVE

WE NOT GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS. SO JUST PLAY HIM

HE JUST BRING THAT ENERGY TO THE TABLE LIKE HOW TONY ROMO DID

CARR AND TESTAVERDE BOTH ACT LIKE OLD ASS MEN THATS IN THEIR 70'S

I deserve a shot now!!! as a Charlotte Observer reporter... at least we would be getting real, unbias and unbought Panther news!!!

Posted by: SYRPIS | Nov 18, 2007 9:57:39 PM

Those who knock Fox's coaching ability should heed the A**hole* comentator comments about Fox's ability to see things on the field when Fox challenged to get credit for the fumble caused by Julius Poopers (still calling him poopers cause I know it's a matter of time b4 he goes back to watching the game on the field). Thing is, the commentator was being his usual facecious self, but he couldn't be more right (even though the referee did not give the Panthers the ball after confirming it was in fact a fumble)!!! Once again Fox is not been given due credit!!! That being said, I did post comments during the preseason how the Cats were in for a bad season because Fox lost control of his team... I stand by that, but that's not entirely his fault... There are people above him that make personnel decisions as well FYI! They are the reason he has lost players and players' respect. Unless that changes, than Cowher and/or any other coach brought in will have the same problems.

Bye John Fox!

So, in the same day that you write that Matt Moore is inactive you request that they put him into the game? Please read your own blog.

Posted by: NMH | Nov 19, 2007 6:21:58 AM

Matt Baker is available. The Panthers should sign him for the rest of the season.

Posted by: NC FAN | Nov 19, 2007 8:08:02 AM

I agree Moore ought to get his shot but it doesnt help when Colbert drops 4 passes in the mitts, as he does every game. Talk about a waste of space, that guy has been a bust since his sophmore season.

Posted by: Ben | Nov 19, 2007 10:14:37 AM

Lucky people like you don't coach the team. You blog like a mindless fan.

Posted by: Bill Parcells | Nov 19, 2007 12:53:30 PM

20-year vetern or
0-year vetern? ummm tough decision

Posted by: joe | Nov 19, 2007 1:48:08 PM

tc, You are stupid.
the panthers could still go for a FG and TD down 11.

Posted by: joe | Nov 19, 2007 1:57:26 PM

As a loyal fan from the beginning of the franchise, I know this season is probably a bust. This team does not have any character. So at least GIVE A FAN SOMETHING TO BE INTERESTED IN!

Give Matt some gametime reps, it's obvious Carr is not your man if an old man has taken over for him. Bench Colbert, and get Steve Smith to mentor Jarret, and for god's sake take a few chances with the play calling once in a while!

Posted by: Andy | Nov 19, 2007 2:22:56 PM

Pantherfan????? First of all the question marks make you a retard. Either you're a loyal fan or you're not. At least Danzig 65 quit so we got one less whiny fan to hear cwyin wike a babeey. And you want something positive on Coach Fox:
He's the best we've ever had. Remember the superbowl?
he's gotten us through worse: Remember 1-7? or 1-15?
It's not a bad team. Just a bad season. If this team had no character I think the panthers would be doing what the dolphins are doing signing ricky williams out of desperation and getting ready for next year. Just cuz you're not successful doesn't mean you got no character.

Posted by: Alonzo | Nov 19, 2007 7:09:15 PM

What I don't think the coaches understand is that the fans can see the "attitude" of the decison making. Kasey doing a pouch kick - come on - that is like saying "let's not get hurt today!"

Posted by: Kelso | Nov 20, 2007 6:44:33 AM

Personaly I think the Panthers should bring in Marty at head coach, it went pritty good for the chargers

Posted by: Nick | Nov 20, 2007 8:45:16 AM

I agree with you Alonzo about coach Fox. He is definately the best coach we've ever had. But he does not believe in this team.

Our draft and free agent decisions have been mediocre at best, and that falls in both John and Marty's camp.
