New QB's in town

If you haven't already seen it: http://www.charlotte.com/109/story/350024.html. It's Drew Olson, but don't get too carried away. He's probably going to be signed to the practice squad Tuesday, just to help with the reps in practice this week. -- PAT YASINSKAS

Who cares? What a joke. It might as well be Mary Kate Olson. Anything but starting Moore is giving up.

THE MAGIC MAN MATT MOORE ,NOTHING ELSE TO SAY!The only way to get people to watch the ATL game.If VT is out.

Posted by: Scott | Nov 6, 2007 7:56:45 AM

It is what it is, QB #6.

Posted by: Jon Fox | Nov 6, 2007 8:35:46 AM

As long as he's signed to the practice squad I'm ok with that. I still want Moore to start if Vinny's not healthy enough to do so. Just for the love of all that is right and good in this world don't start or even play Carr at all.

matt moore dont seem to be scared to throw the long ball. and who catches the long ones? smitty!!! matt and smitty could be the hook up we are looking for as long as he keeps those interceptions down. what happened to qb bell on the practice squad? or why not try weinke again? he at least knows the offense.

How sad is this team? Fans are getting worked up over an undrafted Rookie at Quarterback. Moore is not the answer. I know Hurney and Fox would never do this, but it is time to use a first on a QB. Jake is the the QB, but he is 34 and coming off a major elbow injury on his throwing arm.

Posted by: Steven | Nov 6, 2007 10:02:38 AM

Knowing the offense is not an issue. Every defense in the NFL knows this offense. OK, third and eight, draw play left or draw play right? Hell, you could get Albert Haynesworth to play QB for the Panthers. He spent as much time in the backfield as our QBs did Sunday. Take the opportunity to let Moore run the show, without giving him the ridiculous play-calling that gives us this uber-conservative offense. Fox reminds be of Brian Billick of the Ravens. Hanging on to a formula that worked in the past. The great ones adapt to their changing environment and personnel. You have to either use the run to set up the pass or vice versa, and I don't think we have a chance in hell of setting up the pass with the run. So.....it has to be pass first. Open up the playbook, rookie OC, tell the coach to let you run the offense, and take the reins off. Give me my money's worth. Entertain me. If you are going to lose, at least lose without boring me.

Weinke isn't the answer either, although I would rather have him than Carr. Carr is PATHETIC. It hurts to watch him and I go from having hope and thinking we can salvage the season to something respectable, to when he comes in, I consider the entire season lost. He's embarassing. Go with Vinny, he at least gives us a chance and players seem to want to play for him, I was at the Indy game and when Carr came in the second half, everyone booed him and the team just acted like it had all its air let out of it, and nobody wanted to play hard for their quarterback. Sadly, as pros, they shouldn't need a reason, but there's respect for Vinny, apathy for Carr. Fire him now, and then we won't have to look at his gay Salon Selectives hair-do or white gloves, he thinks he's up to bat, wrong sport, this is football, no wonder he keeps striking out...

And what's up with Scott Fowler? I just read his article and he said he "doesn't root for or against the Panthers..." What the crap? Our own writers don't pull for the home team? No wonder we can't win in Charlotte. And don't even act like it's because "you're a professional" Scott, or worried about showing bias, pull for your freakin' home team you fag.

Posted by: drew | Nov 6, 2007 10:24:28 AM

Professional sports journalists are taught to look at sports objectively - taking too much interest in a team, even your "home team" takes away too much objectivity. He probably does root for the Panthers, but professional does matter.

Sports journalists root for interesting stories, whether those are good or bad. Winning teams inspire great stories; so do bad teams.

Do you really want to read article after article written by a complete homer with no ability to look objectively at the team?

If so, keep reading these comment posts; read other fan blogs - that's all you get.

Whatever, I know that "objective" crap, they're human same as us and regardless have an attachment to the team and can root for whoever they want. Write what you will, but pull for your home team, we've got too many fairweather fans as it is.

Posted by: drew | Nov 6, 2007 10:43:01 AM

I'm sure he does pull for the Panthers.... secretly

But journalists take the objectivity thing quite seriously. So, he'll never tell us he is rooting for them.

A lot of today's popular QBs were held in the background until the opportunity came. Remember, Fat Boy Peete was the MAN until Delhomme replaced him in one game. Remember Delhomme pre-Panther? Me either.

START MOORE< INVEST IN THE FUTURE NOW.

Posted by: Willy | Nov 6, 2007 11:03:39 AM

The whole 'back-up qb waiting in the wings" idea is stupid. Sure, occassionally a qb who has been a long time backup becomes a solid NFL starter once the original qb is hurt or benched. Jake, Brady, Romo, etc are all good examples of guys who turned into good qb's despite being back-ups at one time. But consider the hundreds of back-up qb's who absolutely suck when given their chance and never succeed as a starter, the chances of your backup proving to be a good qb are next to none.

With all that said, I still want Matt Moore to start, if Vinny can't go

Posted by: Mattdaddy | Nov 6, 2007 11:27:37 AM

Matt has great potential but I would hate to see him start and get his confidence wrecked because a 300 lb lineman was in his face every play before he could complete his three step drop. Everyone forgets Tenn was already in prevent before Matt came in so he had a little time to make a throw. Under the full pass rush like early in the game it would have been a little different. We need an O-Line overhaul badly. QB isn't going to make much difference with NO protection from the line.

Posted by: CPAMAN | Nov 6, 2007 11:28:52 AM

Moore cannot be worse than Carr, Tennesse rarely blitzed, the pressure came from the front four, when they went to Prevent, the pressure from the front four was still there. The bottom line is that Carr will never be a good qb and it does not make the team any worse by putting Moore in the game.

we have got to do something.something has to give we look bad, play bad and everything in between.coaches owners pls take a look at our tean we need help now ranther than later. # 1 fan

With Carr there is a 100% chance we'll lose, Matt's odds have got to be better than that. If not we are just back to where we are now. The definition of insanity "Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

You've got to be sh*tting me. Matt Moore is the answer? A guy who couldn't start at UCLA, alienated all of his teammates, and ran away to Oregon State...Yeah that's the answer. What a bunch of experts y'all are.

Posted by: Jeff | Nov 6, 2007 4:53:50 PM

Jeff, where did you get your info? Matt earned the starting job at UCLA before getting hurt. When he got healthy, Dorrell did not give him his starting spot back. That is why he went to Oregon State. Alienating teammates? You have been misinformed, my friend! Get a clue and some acual facts before you start bashing.

Posted by: billy | Nov 6, 2007 5:40:03 PM

You all seem to be missing the most amusing "fact" in this situation: the QB Matt Moore lost the starting job to at UCLA was none other than . . . Drew Olson. I'm waiting for the media to pick up on this. Although the two were roommates their freshman year, when Moore left they were not friends. This should be an awkward situation for both of them. While Olson had a killer season in 2005, Moore was throwing a bunch of picks for OSU and did not become the full time starter until his senior year. Olson was clearly the better QB in college. Unless something drastic has occurred in the last year, it's hard to believe that Moore is actually better than Olson right now.

Posted by: Lee Agsalud | Nov 6, 2007 6:04:47 PM

Les, let me eduacate you. Matt NEVER lost the starting job to Olson. The only reason Olson got to play was because Matt got hurt, Dorrell didn't give Matt his spot back when healthy. That is when Matt transferred. So the media will never pick up on that bit of misinformation. The two are friends to this day and Matt is glad to have him here. Yes, Drew did have a good '05. Matt was the FULL TIME starter for 2 years at Oregon State. Yes, he did throw a bunch of picks his Jr. yr. He also had a Sr. season Drew could only dream of. Drew is nothing like Matt Moore. Drew won't make it in the NFL, while I expect Matt to have a very good career. But I am glad Drew is here so Matt wont have to carry the whole load this week in practice. This will be "deja vu" for Drew. Consider your source and get real facts before trying to inform everyone with false information.

Posted by: billy | Nov 7, 2007 1:21:18 AM

Billy, what football coach in HISTORY has kept the player who gave the team the best chance to win on the bench? I know Dorrell has caught some flack, but he's not that dumb. Sounds to me like you've got a personal vendetta in this little QB drama flare-up.

Posted by: Michael Procton | Nov 7, 2007 2:02:01 AM

John Fox did it Michael Procton. He started me over Jake Delhomme.
