Packers take pooch for a long run
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It was kind of poetic justice that John Kasay’s pooch punt got returned for a touchdown by the Packers. For Carolina’s special teams, that play has become the predictable equivalent of the draw play on third-and-long or the prevent defense.
Back in the spring, I thought the Panthers should have drafted safety Aaron Rouse. They didn’t and the Packers got him. Rouse picked off Vinny Testaverde on the first series of the game.
Caught a good bit of Keyshawn Johnson on the radio during the drive from Milwaukee to Green Bay. Forgot how much he likes himself. Then again, he’s still a better receiver than Keary Colbert or Drew Carter.
Get ready to hear defensive coordinator Mike Trgovac’s name linked to the University of Michigan job. Lloyd Carr reportedly will retire Monday and Trgovac has strong links to the Wolverines. But Trgovac’s stock isn’t exactly at an all-time high with the Carolina defense looking ordinary.
-- Pat Yasinskas
Julius Peppers’ sack of Brett Favre late in the first quarter ties him for the team lead (2.5 sacks) with Damione Lewis.

Davidson must go, awful playcalling, referees bail us out and then to call whatever play that was and put vinny in that kind of position is awful. You could have called a draw play there, we did have one timeout, catch them by surprise. Or hey here's an idea a fade to jarrett, give the kid a shot. Instead I hope the packers beat us by 50 and john fox is fired. PLEASE SIGN BILL COWHER!!!

Play Moore, Vinny can't move. Stupid interception, ridiculous fumble, stupid pooch punt, Peppers the only one on the line doing anything. Jarrett can play, what a shock, good thing we have been saving him till we need him. Colbert, three passes in his hands that he dropped in the first half. Sit his butt down and keep him there.

The Panthers are an absoloute embarassment to the city of Charlotte!! This team has quit on us! No heart whatsoever!!I could get off the couch and go play receiver for them today!!Fox and Hurney are responsible for this mess of a team. They need to go! Everyone has injuries, but Mr Richardson this is pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jake doesnt suck, you do.
sorry, the one week that i dont play peppers in fantasy football, he puts up a good game. lets see what moore can do. maybe we can have a battle for a back-up qb spot if moore is decent... aka, doesnt turn the ball over or gets sacked.

It's not fair to say that the Panthers have quit. They just don't have enough talent and the coaching is terrible. Can't do much about that, no matter how hard you try.

Wow - the Panthers just scored a touchdown! Looks like they just won the Superbowl or something. Oh, I get it - scoring a touchdown is as difficult for the Panthers as winning the Superbowl is for other teams!

In my opinion we never replaced the following:
Stephen Davis (a power back)
Mushin Muhammad/Keyshawn Johnson ( basically a decent 2nd WR)
Ricky Proehl (a 3rd WR who is reliable and can make plays on 3rd down)
Jake was just about holding things together but with him down for the season you can see what's happening!
Foster and Williams are too similar (LenDale White of Ten would have been a better fit from that draft).
Carter is a 4th WR for big plays and no more, Jarrett and Colbert are WR for 5 WR sets at best.

Hey this good end up being a good and productive day after all. Let Turd-o-vac go to Michigan or anywhere. Let's all chip in and buy him a one way ticket out of charlotte forever.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease let Trgovac get the Michigan job. Maybe he could get the DC if Les Miles gets the HC job.

Those who knock Fox's coaching ability should heed the A**hole* comentator comments about Fox's ability to see things on the field when Fox challenged to get credit for the fumble caused by Julius Poopers (still calling him poopers cause I know it's a matter of time b4 he goes back to watching the game on the field). Thing is, the commentator was being his usual facecious self, but he couldn't be more right (even though the referee did not give the Panthers the ball after confirming it was in fact a fumble)!!! Once again Fox is not been given due credit!!! That being said, I did post comments during the preseason how the Cats were in for a bad season because Fox lost control of his team... I stand by that, but that's not entirely his fault... There are people above him that make personnel decisions as well FYI! They are the reason he has lost players and players' respect. Unless that changes, than Cowher and/or any other coach brought in will have the same problems.

I am commenting on this article about the pooch punt...did anyone else see John Kasay getting held on this play? Some green bay guy had two fists full of his jersey. That is against the rules. Kasay had a good opportunity to stop the run back, or at least force out of bounds, but he was held with two hands. The refs were right there and they didn't call anything.

On the pooch kick there was a clip that would have set the ball inside the 10.
That was missed and the rest is history. When my wife asked why this wasn't called, I said "Bad teams just don't get those calls".
