Jarrett having MRI on knee today

Rookie wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett will have an MRI on his right knee this afternoon. Jarrett has missed the last two weeks and said the team's medical staff became concerned that the knee is not progressing as quickly as hoped. Jarrett said the injury is to his medial collateral ligament.
"They said I sprained it a little bit," Jarrett said. "But they want to see what else is going on down there."

Wha? Maybe the playbook is lodged in there.

Maybe we can IR him soon to free up a roster spot for somebody who might actually contribute.

they may elevate a player, but Fox would still refuse to play him, just like with Jarrett

Now we hear from the Procton. Perhaps you can go on IR so there will be less wasted bandwidth from your ignorant posts.

i agree with m. Even if we elevated some amazing player, Fox would not play him, because Fox is a moron!

I wouldn't say Fox is a moron, or inept, or stupid, but its just one of those things about him that he is reluctant to play rookies and guys with limited experience. I seriously doubt he is the only coach in the league with that mindset.

He has weak assistants. If an assistant coach really pushed to play a player, it would happen. Bunch of yes men under him, that could prove his undoing.

There you go PAT! NOW THATS REPORTING!Thats some information that us Panther fans can actually use.Ya Know, instead of the lets not label Carr a bust yet and all the other stupid speculations and personal thoughts Youve thrown out this season.Good Job,Im proud!

Jarrett might as well go on IR because he has been a big ZERO this year. And He wont be cut unless Fox and Hurney are canned (because it usually takes about 2-3 years before they "dump their garbage draft picks"- like Shelton) Then he MIGHT get cut or actually be forced to play better by a new coach (oh, like Cowher for instances) Also after Jarrett goes on IR the Panthers can get another "has been" quarterback. They like doing that.

Lastly, David Carr should be cut and not allowed to enter the state of North Carolina again. I suppose they'll keep he around as a 3rd QB just in case the roof caves in. But at the end of the season, he needs to go. Ill even help him pack his bags.

Jarrett got plenty of PT...in the 3 games in which he actually was able to memorize 3 or 4 routes, he caught a stellar 6 of the 11 passes (54%) thrown at him. Furthermore, there was at least one interception caused by his incorrect route. For comparison's sake, that completion number is right at the numbers of Keary Colbert (51%) and is even worse than Drew Carter (60%.) Steve Smith is at 67% on the year.
As far as cutting "garbage draft picks," you're going to pay high draft picks (3rd and earlier) anyway, so you might as well keep them around. I'd love to know who exactly the other "has-been quarterbacks" are that you're trying to reference. Seems to me that guys like Testaverde and Peete (the only two I can think of) have been our best quarterback options on the roster.

As for Bill Cowher, I'd love for you to qualify how exactly it is that he's a "better coach", despite having a playoff record that is FAR inferior to Fox's. If the problem with the Panthers is that they can't get over the top, Cowher is CERTAINLY not the guy to do it. How long did he take to finally win the Super Bowl? Do YOU want to wait 13 years?

Calvin Johnson aint doin any better,Time to call the dogs off the rookies,Most rookies cant give you what you want in the first year,They've just got started,Ring the Hello bells!,If Carolina let him go,They will get their feelings hurt..bad-I mean real bad,Cause he's gonna be good!

Calvin Johnson isn't doing any better? What are you TALKING about? He's got 5 times the catches, 7 times the yards, and has 5 TDs to Jarrett's ZERO. Granted, I agree that Jarrett still has a chance to be a decent NFL player, but to say that he's doing as well as Johnson (who has also been fighting an injury problem, not just a stupid one) is a bit ridiculous.

Yea, I will agree that Calvin Johnson has had a better year in the NFL then Dwayne Jarret but he was suppose too. Though he's not lighting the world on fire either. I've heard somewhere that the wide reciever is the hardest position to adjust to in the NFL. Whether that be true or not we can't judge players off their first year. Look at Colbert, good first season and no one has seen him since. The flashes that I've seen Jarret in, I think he will be fine. Besides, until he's spent a couple of seasons with the Panthers, I'm not comparing him to the "Hot Hands Club" of Carter and Colbert yet.

Hey everyone

Thought you would get a kick out of this. Seems Michel Procton can dish the insults on here, but when he gets a taste of his own medicine he cries like the little baby he is and whines to the admins and gets posts deleted.

How PATHETICALLY SAD is it that he can insult people, call them names, but when people PROVE him wrong and call him a name he whines like a 5 year old?

Procton is PATHETIC PERIOD@!

Mr. Procton, Im not certain firing fox is the answer BUT the Panthers definitely need a better talent evaulators. Perhaps the blame rests on Hurney's shoulders. But Fox and Hurney are a pair. Hurney will only go if Fox goes. Really don't mind when the Panthers miss on 5th,6th or 7th round picks but when they miss on 2nd round picks (Shelton, Colbert, Nelson and possibly Jarrett) or simply fail to get in the right personal (like better O-linemen)in the first place THEN i want to see changes.

Posted by: TheLowDown Zen | Dec 8, 2007 12:44:19 AM

It's pretty hard to call Jarrett, Colbert, or Nelson "misses." Jarrett is a first-year receiver who hasn't had a chance to show his full capabilities, Colbert is now a tenured vet who has contributed (although not as much as people would like, WAH WAH WAH) throughout the course of his rookie contract, and Nelson was on track for a starting job on the line before his career was ended by an injury that no one could have predicted.
