Moore to start

As expected, Matt Moore will be the starting quarterback against the Seahawks. David Carr will be the backup and Vinny Testaverde will be the inactive third quarterback. -- PAT YASINSKAS

Cut out the racist bullshit, huh. There's no need to show your ass and fuel the fire. It is what it is, and there's no need to drag in a whole slew of racist remarks that only make it worse.

It's time to stop looking at color, and start looking at a person’s heart.

Congratulations to Matt Moore, the rookie QB from Oregon State... he just led your Panthers to an upset win over a division leading, playoff bound Seattle team. Looks like you finally found your QB for the future.... His last start was for Oregon State when they beat Missouri in the 2006 Sun Bowl, after leading OSU to a third place finish in the Pac10 which included breaking USC's 33 game Pac10 win streak. Good luck to him in the future

Yeah, what a phenomenal job he did in not throwing a touchdown, converting in the red zone for a TD, or scoring a WHOPPING 13 points.

Procton, you've gotta be kidding! Moore played awesome, especially considering the circumstances. He had absolutely NO running game (except William's TD anomaly) to work with, and Fox's ultra conservative game planning. For his first start in the NFL, I think he performed way beyond anyone's most optimistic expectation. He showed a real field presence and that he's a keeper. And that Fox's stubborn reluctance to give him a chance until it was too late, is just one more example of Fox missing an opportunity due to his stubborn resistance to change (and chance taking). I watched this game, fully expecting to see Moore get pummeled, and a possible shutout. It was a pleasure to get a real positive surprise (for once!).

I hope John kasey can come back next year, it would hurt if he retires now and we win the bowl next year with Matt moore!

Posted by: Troy | Dec 16, 2007 4:34:09 PM

Listen...the kid didn't complete a downfield pass the whole game, fumbled two snaps, and only got the team into the red zone once (AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN SCORE!) That's not a QB who won the game for us...it's just a QB who didn't lose. Testaverde or Carr could have had just the same game if their protection was as good as Moore's was.

Matt Moore's not even going to be the starter...and John Kasay might already have that ring if not for his kick out of bounds in the SB.

Posted by: Michael Procton | Dec 16, 2007 4:42:21 PM

How hard was the wind blowing at B.O.A. stadium today?

Hard enough to blow a Kasay kick wide of the goalposts, and hard enough to interfere with the accuracy of the long ball. Guess you didn't consider that because you were too busy bashing Moore.

Posted by: hillbilly | Dec 16, 2007 4:56:34 PM

Procton a win is a win you idiot.

Posted by: steve | Dec 16, 2007 5:36:23 PM

And I'm certainly not complaining about the win...I'm complaining about all these people in a rush to crown Matt Moore's ass as the greatest QB to ever step foot on a field. The wind was the same for every player on the field. In short, it was what it was. Regardless, though, it doesn't change the facts I stated above.

The fact is they won the game read it in the papers. PERIOD

Posted by: steve | Dec 16, 2007 7:41:03 PM

Procton, Did you forget the huge pass to Rosario in the first quarter? No one is crowning Moore. Cut the kid a break.

Posted by: NMH | Dec 16, 2007 8:08:24 PM

Procton they won the game which is a W. If they lost it would be a L which is a loser just like you.

Moore managed the game and converted on third down. They kept the defense off the field and fresh. For a first game he showed more potential than we have had. He also stayed in the pocket and used the protection instead of running away from the protection.

Posted by: E | Dec 16, 2007 8:30:04 PM

The "huge pass" was a 20 yard pass to a wide open receiver who then ran after the catch. And staying in the pocket is much easier when there actually IS ONE!

Procton is missing the point. I did not even watch the game this week but the stats tell the true story. Time of Posession, first downs, etc. The kid clearly moved the ball and kept the defense off the field which is more than any QB other than Jake and Vinny in the Arizona game can say. In addition, it was his first game and according to all he managed it quite well.

Procton, you are such a dick! Do you really expect for people to hold ANY value to what you say about ANYTHING?

Posted by: billy | Dec 17, 2007 5:08:24 PM

Yeah, the wind was the same for every player out there, but it doesn't change the fact that it does change the trajectory of the football.

Try completing a pass on a 20+ yard route that relies on timing and accuracy in that type of wind. It's practically impossible.

So unless you've actually attempted it, don't bash someone because they can't do it either.

Posted by: hillbilly | Dec 17, 2007 6:19:50 PM

And I don't think anyone has crowned him yet--that would just be overly presumptuous, a concept I'm sure you're familiar with.
But he hasn't done anything to prove otherwise, either.

Posted by: hillbilly | Dec 17, 2007 6:27:08 PM

Sure he has...how about every time he'd ever been in a game (FIVE TIMES) before Sunday (ONE TIME)?

Posted by: Michael Procton | Dec 17, 2007 6:39:21 PM

And prior to how many of those five games did he receive any significant time practicing with the first team offense?

Posted by: hillbilly | Dec 17, 2007 6:43:33 PM

And how many of those games was he thrown in and asked not to overcome a deficit in points?

A grand total of one.

Posted by: hillbilly | Dec 17, 2007 6:46:14 PM

And he performed admirably in that one.

What time does your classes start in the morning at middle school Procton?
