A WR tidbit from Scouting Combine
If you've looked at the list of prospective free agent wide receivers and thought Chicago's Bernard Berrian would be a good player for the Carolina Panthers to pair with Steve Smith, here's a word of caution: Bears coach Lovie Smith isn't letting go of Berrian easily.
Smith said at the NFL Scouting Combine that the Bears consider Berrian a No. 1 wide receiver and that they'll go to great measures to sign him before free agency opens on Feb. 29.
"Hopefully, we can find a way to keep him in Chicago," Smith said.
However, the Bears apparently don't plan to use the franchise tag on Berrian, who, like Smith, has excellent speed and is one of the league's better downfield threats.

bernard berrian, give me a break. he's such a hype. Can you say, Ashley Lelie? Or how about, Givens, or Patten? All a bunch of hyped up busts...

Hey Billy boy...if you're going to try to trash Berrian, you probably shouldn't use those guys for comparison. He's clearly better than Givens and Patten, having played better last year than Givens or Patten ever had. It could even be argued that his season last year was better than Lelie's best given the QB situation in Chicago.

Berrian could be a good addition, but we need to get CRUMPLER FIRST!!!

I would sign Moose for at as little as he would take, try to get Berrian but not throw too much money at him. Do you think Moose would have gotten such a HUGE deal from Chicago a few years back if #89 would have been healthy the season prior? If all the balls are thrown to you, you're going to get gawdy numbers. I think Berrian would be a upgrade obviously over Carter and Colbert, but he won't be the #1 receiver here and he might not take that too well. Remember, it was Moose , Smith, and a strong running game that got us to the big one.

Forget Moose, why not look at Marty Booker? Panther could get him cheaper and he had basically 2 years of not doing anything in Miami. He should be fresh.

I disagree on the negative comments about Moose. He made some great catches last year. His stats were sown because of inaccuracy of his QB. When he caught the ball he was still just as physical if not more so. He is not fast, but never has been. He has been smart and still is. He is better than Keyshawn has ever been in my opinion. We need a good complimentary RB for Williams. Who better to mentor a Jarret than Moose.

White... I'm with you 1000%!!! And speaking of busts, Crumpler is up and coming bust of the year (with all the hype being built up that is).

BTW White, you put all of the emphasis on receiving core (understandable with all the no-look passes Jake kept lobbing up) but can't you even put a name on that running game?? It's STEPHEN DAVIS! Yes, Foster helped, but Davis was the man!!!
