I talked with Harvey last night. He has a great deal of interest in playing for The Panthers.

That should be an okay pick, we need a passrusher on the line that isn't Julius Peppers. I would think that's one of the reasons for his struggles, teams could focus in on him because Rucker, Jenkins and Kemo were all mediocre passrushers.
Charles Johnson is widely regarded as a run stopping end..in other words he'd just add somebody else to the line that teams wouldn't have to worry about blocking on passing downs..neither does Tyler Brayton..
Harvey might potentially add that passrusher to the right side, with Harvey, Lewis and Peppers, there will hopefully be a passrush to speak of..Which would help Lucas, Gamble and Marshall to play at their normal high levels...

Peppers would have a lot easier time overcoming the extra attention if he actually played to the whistle.

If Harvey is the pick, where does that leave Johnson, and McClover? Or do they keep 5 DE's and only 4 DT's? It seems in years past they've kept 5 DT's (could be wrong), but were able to have Kindal Morehead sub for both end and tackle.

Well, Steven, Brayton could be that swing guy this year. In addition to DE, he's also played both OLB and DT. [How did the Patriots let this guy go? :D]

If you play alot of positions, that tells me that you can't play one well

I thought he came from the Raiders? But either way, I agree with both Procton and Steven. By the way, why not have him play a little FB as well?

Adailius Thomas agrees, Steven. And Brayton did come from the Raiders, but the Patriots have a penchant for snapping up every versatile guy they can.

well it can also mean he's good @ alot of postions as well idk

Alot of the Raiders fans I know scoff at the signing of Brayton..
Maybe, maybe the guy can play well for us, at first I was angry, but after we snatched up a couple guys who can really help, I think Brayton should get his second chance..
It was just frustrating watching alot of people who might've helped the team go, but in retrospect I think paying Tyler Brayton for cheap is better than giving Justin Smith 30 million

well i wouldnt either but i think Brayton is goin to fit well im pretty sure if Fox see's something he likes rite now he wont waste money but i gotta feeling he's goin to play DT DE not OLB

Yea, I completely zoned on that one, Procton.
Posted by: Steven | Mar 19, 2008 7:46:12 PM
Haha...I agree he probably won't see much time at LB, but the fact that he's done it says a lot for his football acumen.

Hey if he's plays like he did in the champship game I 'm all good with Derrick Harvey's people in Ohio still can't get over how he took over the game.

well im all for derick harvey and sign sims trade down to maybe get Boston college OT then our draft wil be outstanding

I would love to have a high-quality LT come out of the draft! But, after hearing the argument about how the Giants won a Superbowl with a good pass-rush.... hmmm.

I think they'll probably try and shop some of their picks, maybe our first round and either our second or one of our thirds, to see if they can't move up and get a starting OT. If they can't or if people want too much then we'll probably stand pat and take Harvey. Either way I think we're still in good position to get some very good players. Gotta remember too though...free agency will get very lively again the closer to June 1st we get. These teams will start to cut some talented veterans to free up cap space to sign these rookies they draft and with the price tag for the first pick being $30 million guaranteed?!?! They're going to need all the cap space they can get.
