2 Panthers among tops in bonus pay
Panthers tight end Jeff King and safety Chris Harris were among the top 17 wage earners in the NFL's performance-based pay system that annually awards lower-salaried players for playing time.
King's bonus of $281,264 was fourth-highest in the league and nearly doubled his $360,000 base salary.
Harris ranked 17th with a bonus of $250,963. His base salary was $435,000.
The league adopted the performance-based pay system as part of its 2002 collective bargaining agreement extension. There is a formula for determining how much to reward lower-paid players whose performance and playing time have a value exceeding their contracted compensation.
The top extra-earner for last season was Pittsburgh tackle Willie Colon ($309,534).

I'd say that both of our players definately deserved their big bonuses.

They should do the same thing with players the underperform, take away the money. Peppers, pay up.

King was only behind Smitty in recieving last year, and Harris was the safety we've been looking for. We've been looking for a safety since Grant left... then Minter retired. They deserve the bonus, now we just have to build on their efforts. We've got two TE's with a lot of upside, a good safety in Harris, but still question marks with the "other" safety opposite our starter.

Right on! At the end of '08, everyone's going to be freaking out on how good the 2 TE's (King and Rosario) are. Who to cover on 3rd? Smitty, Hackett, Moose, King, Rosario...Watch for D-lo? Maybe Hoove? I like how it's shaping up.

I just thought what if we trade with the 49ers get their late first and 2 round pick and even there next year 1st or 2nd round pick for or 13th pick. if you go on espn their latset mock draft have alot of talent players that will great players to get.

They should take all of Peppers bonus money in his contract and spread it around to the guys that actually showed up and worked hard in games last year.

Pep better step his game up this year are I will not be a fan anymore. You can't be 6'7 283 lb and only have 3.5 sacks.

TL u must not have never played any sports at all. A bad year is a bad year! What about all the other seasons he had? Let me ask you this...What did you have to say about Peppers before last season started? Did yo u think he was so awful then or did you think like majority of the fans in the NFL thought which was he was one of the most dominant defensive players in football? One year shouldn't make or break a player. Especially a player who has played a high level every year but one!

EG, I said that Peppers was ridiculously overrated, and he proved my point. He has never played at a high level over a year. He gets tons of three-sack games against third-string tackles (see Brown, Elton) and gets shut down any time he faces anybody decent. Peppers' career high in games with a sack is 9. "One of the most dominant defensive players in football" should be getting to the QB more often than every other week. Hell, just look at his playoff stats: 7 games, 2 sacks, less than 3 tackles/gm. Tell your boy that he can be "great" and "dominant" when he shows up every week and doesn't give up on every single play where his first move doesn't work.

Yeah Procton, we should just sign Primoz Brezac to rush the passer and teach Pep a thing or two

I would so hook up with Procton Michael if he would let me. He is fan number 1 for me.
