« Gearing up for Round 6 pick | Main | Hayden on Hayden »

Finally, a DT
The sixth-round pick (181 overall) is Wisconsin's Nick Hayden (6-4, 291, 5.24 40).
He had 132 tackles for loss and 10 sacks during his college career.
He's known as a real effort player, but doesn't rate highly in athletic ability, according to scouts. Very durable, starting 39 consecutive games.
The Panthers have virtually no depth at defensive tackle, so he'll be a backup at least for now, until the Panthers sign a DT or two in free agency.

132 tackles for loss? Geez - how did anybody score on them?
Just ribbing you.

Jordan Carstens came in and made a big impact as a high-energy UFA. With Hayden having been a potential 3rd-rounder, I think he'll stick and be a good rotation player.

Yea! actually he has great foot work. He's big and he can play some good football I think he'll be pretty stout. But he's def big enough to play DT bigger than Dorsey.
Good pick Fox

Is Carolina going to a 3-4 scheme ???

I like the pick for the sixth freaking round, should have addressed it earlier.

Maybe, JB, but addressing needs early just because of panic once led to Attyiah Ellison. I don't want that again. It's always good to get the best values. If there were any DEs or DTs close to the top of their board, they would have gotten them. I think we should do ok on the D-line with the growth of McClover and Johnson as well as the addition of Brayton. Also, we just signed Darwin Walker to a one-year deal to solidify the DT rotation.

it was a great draft. we stole connor. i hope fox is smart enough to get the best young linebacking corp in the league on the field a lot by using 3-4 and dime packages.also everyone was raving about how tough godfrey is and what a good cover guy he was. he should make a fine safety. dont forget shaw runs a 4_4 forty too.
now that we have darwin walker we have a nice rotation going.
great job by hurney and don gregory, director of scouting.
otahs coach said he was the best lineman he ever coached and he coached richmond webb. i picked stewart. as a matter of fact i picked 14 of 32 1st rounders dead on.
i see deep playoff run boys and girls and hermaphrodites. im giddy.
