Josh Johnson to Tampa Bay
Very intriguing fifth-round pick by the Tampa Bay Bucs, taking San Diego quarterback Josh Johnson.
Coach Jon Gruden loves to collect quarterbacks and Johnson has a tremendous upside if he can make the adjustment from the non-scholarship Pioneer League to the NFL. He got off to a good start by being named offensive MVP of the East-West Shrine all-star game, when he played mostly against major college players.
It's been said that players at small schools must dominate at that level to show they can make a big move up in competition. Well, Johnson threw for 43 touchdowns and ONE interception last season.
I think it was Houston Texans' coach Gary Kubiak who said that would be hard to do against air.
If Johnson is as good as the Bucs hope, he could be a real headache for the Panthers in the NFC South in future seasons. He runs the 40 in about 4.5 seconds, giving him excellent mobility, but he's definitely a pass-first quarterback. He led the nation last season in passing efficiency.

He'll enjoy playing against this craptastic Panthers defensive line next year if he gets the chance to play. He'll have all day to throw the ball.

Darn. Tampa's doing pretty well for themselves today, the Falcons and Saints have done well too. Our division continues to get tougher...good thing we made the move yesterday for Stewart and Otah, because we are going to need them to keep up with our NFC South rivals.

Another in a long line of HORRIBLE Day 2 draft selections for Hurney & Fox.

Think Tampa Bay would take Stan Olson, Charles Chuck Chandler, and Michael Procton for a 7th round pick?

if they don't draft andre woodson at #181 (how is he still there!?!), then i'm marching down to BOA to take that ship over.

I hate dumb sh*t like that. They drafted BPA all day (and quite well), you never go wrong with that, unless you somehow think a 7th rounder will overtake Lewis, LOL.

So dugbug you think we needed a CB that maybe converted to FS, an ILB, and a pass catching TE?? You think those were the biggest areas of need??? Talk about dumb $%*#, The best player available theory might work if you have no glaring needs, but in case you've been living on the moon the Panthers have major needs and they are not ILB & TE.

You want Andre Woodson? He's horrible, his mechanics are terrible. Why would you want him?

I have no idea what I'm doing.

Darn again, Tampa takes Cory Boyd. Obviously after we got Stewart, there was no need for us to take another RB, but I would have preferred for Boyd to end up outside our division if we didn't take him.
