NFL schedule to be released Tuesday
Fall planning can begin for Panthers fans tomorrow.
For those of you ready to fill in your calendar with the team's regular season schedule, you'll have the information you've been awaiting shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The NFL Network is planning a schedule release show at 2 p.m. If that seems "over the top," that's what you get when a sports league has its own television channel.
The Panthers already know who and where they'll play next season, but have been waiting on the when.
The schedule features five games against 2007 playoff teams, including the Super Bowl champion New York Giants on the road.
Carolina will play four teams with new players who were members of the Panthers in '07 -- New Orleans (linebacker Dan Morgan), Denver (wide receiver Keary Colbert), Oakland (wide receiver Drew Carter), and Atlanta (defensive lineman Kindal Morehead).
And four new Panther signees will play the teams they were with last season -- defensive end Tyler Brayton (Oakland), guard Keydrick Vincent and safety Terrance Holt (Arizona), and receiver Muhsin Muhammad (Chicago).

Psl holders I am selling ads on the new Jumbotrons. Please start selling your tickets to the opposing fans so we can make BOA more fan friendly.

Dammit dad Mr. Bojangles, settle down with pimping those ads so soon. You know Barbecues Galore, Bank of America, CPI Security, and Bojangles already have committed to every tv and team timeout. I'm trying to figure out how we can show commercials DURING the game play. Anyone want to get a beer? I feel like getting hammered again tonight.

You guys realize every single team in the NFL sells just as much crap as the panthers. It is no different anywhere else.

Well guys, I wouldn't be planning on seeing any Panthers primetime games anytime soon. We'll be shafted out of that just like we have been for the last couple years. Not that I can blame the league for the mediocre records we've been putting up. But still, over the last 3 or 4 years, we haven't gotten much in terms of Monday or Sunday night games, and even worse teams were getting those slots because they had "larger fan bases" or a "better history in the league." I mean, I understand that Charlotte isn't the largest city in the nation, but us panthers fans would like our team to be featured to the rest of the nation every once in a while. I mean c'mon, teams like Dallas, New England, and Indianapolis are on primetime 5 or 6 times a year. Even mediocre teams like Atlanta used to be on alot when they had a star like Vick. I just wish the NFL would consider all of its team's fans instead of pandoring to a few select cities.

Christian, it's not about "pandoring" (does that have something to do with opening a box?) to cities, it's about pandEring to ratings. Charlotte (and the Carolinas in general) can't bring them. Until our fans realize it's not a good thing to whine, complain, try and run the best coach we've ever had our of town, and otherwise not support the team, that will continue to be true.

I personally hope we don't get any prime time games. Getting out of the stadium after midnight after drinking all game is rough when you have to work the next day, haha. Plus, if you ask any coach in the league they will tell you its best for their team to play at their typical kickoff time (1pm in the Panthers case). It definitely didn't help them out having a lot of 1:00 games last year but maybe it will this yr.
Oh and Billy, that statement isn't entirely true. I can't speak for every team in the league but I've been to Cincy and Nashville the past 2 years and neither stadium had even half the amount of commercials/advertisements as the Panthers. And their PA announcer stuck to game related announcements...didn't do commercials like the guy in b of a stadium does.

Well, Look for that to change next year. The Panther will be a better team this year than they have been in a couple of years, and thier schedule is easier than it has been in recent years. If they can go 5-1 in the division, 13-3 seems like an easy target. Anything short of 11 wins will be dissapointing this year. Also BOA is one of the better stadiums in the league so the NFL does want to display it, we just haven't given the a reason to in the past couple of seasons.

Thanks for the spell check Procton. I'll make sure to run my next term paper by you.
Although you're right about ratings being the deciding factor, I hardly think the NFL and ESPN take the whining of fans into account when deciding their schedule. The only way the Panthers will garner better national viewership is adding a star player that even non-Panther fans would be eager to watch at a primetime slot. I believe we have that in Steve Smith, but unfortunately Steve cannot yet throw the ball to himself or consistently break triple teams. But with Jake back and the addition of Hackett, those problems should hopefully be avoided.

I didn't say they did take the whining of the fans into consideration. But a byproduct of that whining and the lack of support is poor ratings. I will note that 4 of our 6 Flex-scheduling games are against potential playoff teams. We almost got one last year.
