Hurney: Stewart's toe OK

Panthers general manager Marty Hurney was noncommital Monday evening on whether first-round draft picks Jonathan Stewart and Jeff Otah will sign by the time training camp starts Saturday in Spartanburg.

"I think any time you're still talking, you really don't have a feel" for when a deal might get done," Hurney said. "But we're talking. We'll know more by the end of the week."

Hurney did say  Stewart, a running back from Oregon, looks like he's recovered from offseason toe surgery that kept him from working out with the Panthers in the spring and earlier this summer.

We'll have more in Tuesday's Observer.

Grow up people. If things are so bad, don't waste your precious time by responding.

Here is something to report: the Panthers suck!!! And Eagles rule. Hey guys, I'm back in this pathetic state for work. Thank goodness we finish up Friday and I don't have to come back to be surrounded by these fair weather fans. Hopefully EVER!!

Wow, this GM of yours sounds brilliant. Hurnley says, "Well, we are talking, and when you are talking, you may get a deal done but you really don't know, you just know you are talking. We'll know more after we're done talking if we signed them or not."
WHAT AN IDIOT!!!

2 words for you: Jeff Otah. WHAT A JOKE!! Do you people even realize how much you gave up in the trade with us to get him?? You should realize that you gave up more to get sorry Jeff Otah then the Skins and Saints gave up COMBINED to get Taylor and Shockey. UNBELIEVABLE!!! You could have had 2 proven vets, but you have this stinker from Pitt. Pathetic!
You should have at least used our pick that you overpaid for to get a d-lineman. Who the hell plays d-line for you now that Jenkins is gone? Don't even say Peppers. Talk about overrated and overhyped. That guy gets shut down more than a restaurant with a bad health rating. He may be the most overrated player in the history of the league. Peppers is a joke, like all the fans that go to your crappy stadium.
One more time.
E-A-G-L-E-S. GOOOOOO EAGLES!!!!!

I really hope that kid from Houston doesn't take my job

Posted by: Mcnabb | Jul 22, 2008 5:53:08 AM

Donovan,
I'll take 'that kid from Houston' as my backup over Mr. Hype Mark Moore or whatever your back up is any day. I don't even know where he went to school. I just know I watched him get worked on national television by the Cowboys last year. He plays scared. You better hope delhomme, who i will admit is a good QB, holds up this year or you will finish 4-12 instead of 6-10.
GOOOO EAGLES!!!!

BREAKING NEWS!!!
its going to be HOT in Spartanburg next week. you heard it here first.

Posted by: Stan's friend | Jul 22, 2008 7:16:44 AM

Anyone else think that Peps will be more effective from the opposite side? It sounds like they will be blitzing Davis more and than would most likely come from Peppers side of the ball.
