Another big offensive lineman
Despite spending much of the offseason adding hulking offensive linemen to their roster, the Carolina Panthers added another Wednesday when they obtained 6-4, 337-pound Charles Spencer off waivers from the Houston Texans.

The really sad part about the idiot troll on this board is that he might succeed in forcing a mandatory registration/log in. Something that always slows down the real posting as well.
As for the move, they waive a practice squad OL for an OL with more talent. So it looks like a solid move.

The people who run this site need to edit all the stupid motha's who post the most ridiculous non-sense. I'm so glad to be a Panther fan from South East Portland Oregon, and don't have to deal with all the ignorant racism that goes on in the South and the East.

Sorry about posting my comment twice, I just can't believe how ignorant some people can be. Reading what some idiots put, really takes me back as a Panther fan, and a sports fan in general.

Please leave the unnesacary (sorry for bad spelling) commentary off these boards. It really is just pathetic. As for the move, you can never have too many offensive lineman. If he can get healthy, he might be pretty good.

There should be a mandatory registration/log in process, I can describe how disrespected my boys on the team from the U of O are (Stew, Rosario), its just ugly that this kinda non sense continues...

That in cohesive, ignorant rambling up there is ridiculous. Hopefully you will be removed from the blog, no one cares or wants your filth on here. We come here to talk about the Panthers, not that junk. You sir, should grow up.

I live in Northwest Portland Oregon and trust me, there's just as much racism out here buddy boy. People just aren't ignorant enough to post it on message boards. But it's here.

Southeasduck, I agree that the postings above are ridiculous. The reason they were put there was to draw attention and "shock" people. They were put there by an insignificant nobody who doesn't have the courage to post with their real name. But to say that racism is something that is dealt with only in the South and the East is every bit as ignorant as the first comments.

Wow. That's all I can really say. And you guys like to come on here and trash Philly and all of us that live there. This isn't really helping any stereotypes of the South and your great state here. One more day until I get back home. Hope I don't run into any Klansmen having a rally on my way to the airport.
And congrats on this big signing here. A guy cut from one of the perennial worst O-lines is definitely what you need to get to the super bowl. Wooooooo hooooo!
E-A-G-L-E-S. GOOOOO EAGLES!!!!!!

And here is a little piece of advice for you guys: maybe on a PANTHERS blog, try discussing the PANTHERS every now and then. Yesterday it was who is more gay, today's theme is all about how racist your fans can be. Pretty damn pathetic.
You guys love to bash Philly fans for booing our team. Compared to the racist, gay-hating crap I see on here that is nothing. I'm sure there have been some boos in Panthers stadium too. Are you telling me no one booed the pathetic performance of david carr and your team last year? Whatever. If you weren't booing it's probably because the stadium was full of racists dropping the N-bomb under their breath every time a black player on the field messed up. Let it go folks, it's the 2000's now not the 1800's.
Terrible.

I dont think we have really anything to lose by signing this fella
Posted by: matt | Jul 24, 2008 7:57:58 AM
I've never seen anyone speak disrespectfully about Stewart or Rasio, I think everyone is glad to have both of them on this team

How much did Gosder Cherilus get paid? How much do the Panthers still have under the cap? Anyone know??
Posted by: SYRPIS | Jul 24, 2008 9:02:11 AM
As for the signing of Spencer, it looks like the Texans got tired of waiting for him to heal, but the Panthers are willing to wait. I think they're looking ahead to next year, to develop options to replace Gross, when he leaves.

Early warning, folks. Registration is coming, probably within the month. It's a full-time job dealing with the trolls and baiters on here, and I already have one of those, don't need another. Figure out what your user name will be, because you're going to need it soon. The days of completely anonymous posting are almost over.

All the Panthers are doing with this signing is giving the guy a shot. If he looks healthy they will keep him, if not he will get cut this year.
Posted by: wowo | Jul 24, 2008 9:22:30 AM
Yes, how terrible that would be to have a registration system so that people had to be held accountable for their behavior on here.
As for Spencer, it's a little of a weird move. Should the Texans not have known they could have PUP/IRed him too? He is a good player if he's healthy, and perhaps even an LT (although he's only played two games there in the NFL and one season in college.) I just don't know how we're expecting a guy who just failed a physical and has been recovering from a broken leg for 22 months(!!!) to get on the field in the next week. To me, it's not worth risking his health because he wants to play and we need OT help.

To God Be The Glory.....For The Things He Has Done......I may not know the GAME that well, I'm learning.....but I do know CHARLES SPENCER!! And I know with his love, dedication and commitment to the GAME, he will be back, stronger than ever!!! Keep Praying JUNIE.....Your Poughkeepsie Fans are with you and the Carolina Panthers!!!

Hp you sir are a moron. The iggles have a washed up qb and no WR's. the only good player on offense you guys have is your rb. Go back to philly, we actually don't want you here in NC.
Posted by: i81b4i8u | Jul 24, 2008 10:15:12 AM
thats great that he has love, dedication, and committment......but can the man block a rush end?
Posted by: matt | Jul 24, 2008 10:43:59 AM
HP, just because you are in Charlotte doesn't mean you have to read the observer. Believe it or not you can actually read the philly paper...from Charlotte! Really, I am not kidding.

Without going into too much detail, who posted what at the beginning of this. I'm glad to see it was pulled.
Any news on the first round boys? Almost time to lace 'em up.
Posted by: Wes | Jul 24, 2008 11:35:30 AM
Oh, and SYRP, 5/14.9 (8.8 guaranteed.) So we should probably hope for something around 5/14.5 with about 8.5 guaranteed. Should definitely speed things up with Otah.

Ok, to aim this more into a panthers topic, who is going to be the main RB this year? Deangelo is a very underated player who has explosivness similar to smitty. I have heard rumors that Stewart will end up being the #1 back this year. Would in not make more sense for him to be the backup to Deangelo? More of a third down back? Give the more experienced player a chance to prove himself now that Foster is gone. Either way, i feel that we have a great offense this year and cant wait to see where this season takes us. As far as the new OL...More power to him. I feel that we could use as much help on the OL as possible.
