Rookie contract info

Jeff Otah just said he received a five-year contract with $8.9 million in guarantees, in a deal totaling about $14 million.

Jonathan Stewart also was given a five-year deal. His guaranteed money is around $10.8 million. With incentives, it's believed the package could be worth as much as $20 million.

Otah, a right tackle, and Stewart, a running back, were chosen 19th and 13th, respectively, in the first round of the NFL draft.

Their deals got done less than 12 hours before the opening camp practice Saturday morning.

Hmm...it doesn't seem like we paid Otah any less than Cherilus. Wasn't worth quibbling over to prevent a holdout, but not ideal, either.

It'll be interesting to track Otah vs. Cherilus in terms of performance with their respective units next season. No stats or anything. I've just got a feeling Otah might pan out better.
