SI: Panthers to finish over .500 but out of playoffs

Sports Illustrated predicts the Panthers will have a winning season, but won't make the playoffs.

The magazine has Carolina and Tampa Bay finishing 9-7 atop the NFC South, but with the Bucs winning the tie-breaker for the division title and Carolina missing out on a wild-card berth.

SI picks the Eagles over the Vikings in the NFC championship game and the Patriots over the Colts in the AFC, with New England winning the Super Bowl.

if anything the SAINTS will win the division @ 10-6. Carolina will beat TB 2x this year (as usuaul with a healthy Jake)and if both are 9-7, the cats get the Wild Card.

how can anybody pick Philly over Minnesota?
hell how do they pick Philly over the CowGirls.

They had us in the Super Bowl two years ago....

That SI picked us to finish out of the playoffs actually makes me feel better. They are NEVER right with their predictions and any time they predict the Panthers to do well, we never do. Peter King is a good writer and all, but I think he is a poor predictor (not to mention an unabashed Red Sox/Patriots fan which he never even TRIES to hide). I think the Panthers are going to surprise a lot of the so called experts this year. Not getting national attention plays right into John Fox's gameplan.

Do we really care about what the writers at "SI" think? Every Sunday, the players have to suit up and play the game. I cold make my own predicitions and publish them:

Nov 4.......A new president will be elected !!!

Nov 5.......Will anyone really care?

Nov 6.......Read My lips, you still have to pay taxes for things that have nothing to do with you.

I'm really tired of these so-called experts. The only reason I may slightly agree with their Pats prediction is that they have an easy schedule. But now that teams have had an opportunity to change their strategies and play-calling, the Pats will not dominate like they have in the past. No more inexplicable comebacks! Moreover, put a little pressure on Brady and he looks like Micheal Vick without any feet!!

I don't care what they think either..but..guess they are also predicting....this as the end of john fox reign here....i mean i dont care if we win 10 games! if we miss playoffs..fox has to go!!!!
7 seasons!! and you made the playoffs two times!! yep....grounds for dismisal in my book in about any professional sport.

Carolina will finish anywhere between 7-9 and 12-4. I know its a broad number but it depends on if we get bit by the injury bug. If Stewart, Smith, Delhomme, and most of our D stays healthy - we will go 11-5 or
12-4. If everyone gets hurt, we will eek out a 7-9 record.

Hey Cheven,
John Fox is a great coach. A worst case scenario year(completely dessemated by injuries) for John Fox is a 7-9 record. A best case scenario(stays healthy) is a Super Bowl win. I like those chances as does Jerry Richardson.

At least as interesting is that Pat Yasinskas -- you may remember him -- says BofA games have a wine-and-cheese feel as S-PIN ranks the Panther fanbase 25th out of 32.

JAT, what's interesting about that? It's been true since the day Ericsson/BoA opened up.

I think we can safely rank the SI writers' comments about the Panthers up there with SIR PEES and Proctologist's comments.... baseless, biased, and unintelligble. Let's see what they ALL say at the end of the year. Here's to the beginning of a great season real Panther fans! My prediction, two said name members above eat a lot of crow come Dec/Jan timeframe, and won't even have the balls to admit they misjudged or under evaluated the Panthers. Could be they just haven't dropped yet...don't really know? Cheers, CW.
