Smith, Lucas return to practice

SPARTANBURG - Steve Smith and Ken Lucas, the principals in a training-camp fight on Friday, returned to Carolina Panthers practice Monday morning at Wofford College.

Smith practiced with the team while Lucas, who suffered a broken nose in the fight, watched. Lucas appeared to have a black eye and slight swelling around his nose.

Smith was suspended for two regular-season games by the team for his part in the fight. How long Lucas will be out is not yet known. -- DAVID SCOTT

has anyone on the team shown Smitty the cold shoulder?

Matt, I hope not. We dont need a huge rift in this team right now. Granted, what he did was very wrong but we have to forgive but certainly not forget. I for one honestly believe he is remorseful and probably was 2 minutes after it all went down.

Also, any updates on the D-Line injury situation?

i hope not either, buts i wouldnt be suprised if Lucas' mates in the secondary like Gamble, Harris and Marshall sort of arent so friendly with Smitty for taking out there partner.

Writers, has there been any indication from Fox that he would not cut camp short this year due to the added distraction?

For those of you who are defending Steve Smith, you should be standing in the sidelines when he returns to practice. That way, he can punch YOU in the MOUTH for something you may have said! Let's see then if you still feel the same way about the situation. After all, "it's Steve Smith" so we "should just get over it."
